Luke Skywalker Becomes Friends With Galactic Empire Soldier Scene - Star Wars Battlefront 2 Oinkleberry: This game's campaign isn't perfect but it's so many miles ahead of the sequel trilogy it's pretty refreshing.
I really like the world building of Del's childhood. That on Empire controlled worlds they apparently talked about the Jedi as literal monsters. That the Emperor wasn't even suspected to be a Force user. And this is considering that Del is one of the Empire's elites of Inferno Squad, practically a super-soldier in terms of skill. And yet he never even knew. It makes me wonder how high in the chain of command you have to get before you knew the truth behind the Empire's rise. How many Imperial men died in the Galactic Civil war having believed they were fighting for good? How many people on the Death Star even understood what was happening when it's laser fired? That's millions of people, blown up during A New Hope. It's a really depressing reality to think the Empire itself was as much a victim to Palpatine as the Rebellion was.

And then that same imperial trooper searched for luke again to help him in his cause, eventually the 2 became more than friends. They were like brothers, and while he wasnt force sensitive, luke still trained him to use a lightsaber at his request. when luke went into exile, he asked the trooper to do his best to keep him hidden. With a final goodbye, the trooper did just that and promised that the force will not be the only thing with him. When luke died, he paid the trooper a visit and brought him to the force when he died of age. The 2 would then face the future, together.
If that's what actually happened or anything close I'm going to punch a hole in my wall.

I liked this version of Luke. I like how he doesn't use his actions and his status as a Jedi and fame/infamy to promote rebel propaganda but instead give neutral and wise insight into the situation without allowing his own personal choices in life to influence it. This version of Luke is what all Jedi should aspire to be. True neutral keepers of the peace without ego or prejudice. Something that's failed to represented time and again in movies and games. Even Yoda failed at this. This was a really well written segment.

It may be weird, but in Star Wars games, when I'm a Jedi, I actually give my enemies a chance before engaging.
When I played this and was at 0: 50, I had turned my lightsaber off and slowly walked up to them. Even after they shot at me, I still gave one of them a chance to stop shooting before killing them.

If Disney sees fit to eviscerate the expanded universe for their own vile creations, why can't Star Wars fans build our own universe and eviscerate theirs in that pursuit? Erase the sequel trilogy and all of the spinoffs and return to stories like this.

Does anyone notice Luke always warns people not to do something too late?
Han-s about to shoot the door in the trash compactor-too late
Chewie tried to get at the meat-realize it too late
Del throw a detonator-Also too late
Lamotrigine

all the tlj haters here smh
-hurr durr is unrealistic that someone so optimistic would make a mistake and become cynical and jaded. -
someone who has spent a long time in the entertainment industry
-oh really? do tell me more-

reply

-They didnt give me a choice-
-Luke sprints towards clueless stormtrooper with his back turned to him, leaping towards him while spinning his lightsaber around himself, resulting in an instant death before they had any time to react-

It's interesting to see Del doesn't actually know that the Emperor can use the force. As he understands it, the Jedi are the only force users. It illustrates the empire soldiers generally being kept out of the loop on certain things.

despite this campaigns problems, they really knew what characters they were writing for. its a damn shame we wont get to see this team have another go at a star wars game like this, and probably wont even get that for a while either
reply

I like the lines, but the lightsaber combat is garbage. Almost every shot hits him and he doesn't die only because he is a bullet sponge. Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast did way better in this.

There's SO MUCH of Luke's story that needs to be told. and you don't need Mark Hamil for that. perhaps the new Obi Wan series will be a lead in to Luke Skywalkers after the Fall of the Empire.

It-s funny how this game by a company that couldn-t give two shits about their ownership over the Star Wars games IP can write Luke better than the actual copyright owners of the character.

I'm always impressed whenever I'm reminded of how good the story for EA's Battlefront II was. THIS is the true post-episode VI Luke Skywalker, right here. Take note, y'all.

I like Wise Luke Skywalker. We only had one real movie to see Jedi Knight Luke and got a feel for how much he grew (ROTJ, but it's nice to see games expand on this idea.

Thats the Luke I loved and always will love. He was the reason why I liked jedies the most. .as he was my hope in jedies to turn less arogant and more tuned with the force.

Man I really hate the in-game animations - especially the lack of idle. Like how he holds his blade while blocking doesn't feel organic. Does anyone get what I mean?
reply

Luke in a cutscene: Hey, I heard you need help. I'll help you just because you asked.
Luke in gameplay: -immediately charges and attacks unaware stormtroopers-

reply

This is the real Luke. This is how Disney should have kept him. But noooo. lets make him abandon every aspect of what a jedi is supposed to be.

The map looks just like mass effect and destiny. I hate how modern games all look the same with all the crazy colors and shit everywhere.
reply

It-s crazy is it just me or does Luke almost sound like Christian Hadenson man I wish they-d give him more work he-s the voice of Anakin ffs

This Mission was such a missed opportunity. If they took out the bits with the Bugs it would be a classic that I'd return to all the time.
reply

It would be amazing to have a Jedi Fallen Order style SINGLE player game, but with this wise and badass Luke Skywalker.
reply

I-m not gonna lie, but Rise of Skywalker is the worst movie out of all of the Star Wars movies. Try to change my mind.
reply

-Why did you save me? -
-Because you asked-
Why did we not get this Luke in any of the sequels! God damn it

reply

Somehow it's the Return of the Jedi follow up we all needed to feel some good again with Luke Skywalker.
reply

This is who Luke should have been. Who he was in Legends. What a tragic waste of a character. Thanks, Disney.
reply

well, watching Luke massacres a whole bunch of stormtroopers mercilessly makes me confused if he is a good guy
