1) How far back in time did Liu Kang reset the timeline or create a new one?
2) When Liu Kang told The Great Kung Lao that he needs to be prepared/trained, his reaction was: -For What? - Which means that up until that point Shao Kahn did not become the ruler of outworld and The Mortal Kombat tournament with Shang Tsung did not take place.
By taking the above points into consideration. I surmise that Liu Kang may have created a brand new timeline from a clean slate. Onaga is the new threat and is coming for earthrealms Kamidogu or he is looking for the scattered body parts of the one being.

I wonder if Netherrealms really has the balls to take Mortal Kombat 12 back into the past with the Great Kung Lao as the new Liu Kang and Liu Kang as the new Raiden. That's thousands of years in the past. No Johnny Cage, Sonya, Jax, Bi-Han or Kuai Liang, even Hanzo Hasashi. I don't think they do, Boon could never leave Scorpion out of a game again. But, it'd be awesome see characters who would still be alive during that era (like Kitana, Jade, Kotal, Baraka, Reptile, Nitara, Bo Rai Cho, etc) all get a day in the limelight. Hell, it'd be awesome to see Onaga be the big bad again.

This is pretty easy to put together. Kung Lao is every bit as capable Liu Kang yet, Raiden was dead set on making Liu Kang The Chosen. The Great Kung Lao that lost to Goro and The Kung Lao Liu kang trained with are one in the same. Liu Kang is meeting his friend at a time were he is humble and is more teachable because he doesn't have a huge chip on his shoulder. Liu Kang wants to eventually find Kitana and live a peaceful life. He's Taking Kung Lao's MK11. Ending And making it canon.

Why is there even a mortal kombat tournament or the need to train Kung Loa to begin with? Demi God Liu Kang is literally controlling / shaping the timeline from scratch. Why wouldn-t he just prevent the need for a tourney to begin with by eliminating Shoa Khan-s existence or his evil conquering motives? Zero threat of realm merging with Shoa Khan & Shang Tsung gone.

I actually wonder if this affects the timeline like goros defeat shao Kahns invasion and also Armageddon if that is gonna effect the timeline and if taven or daegon really got the power of blaze during Armageddon or if edenia existed and shao Kahn never did and sindel turned good during fire God Liu Kangs timeline

From This and the way time travel works a MK with a twist to the characters would be good imo for ex. Imagine bi-han as Scorpion or shao khan and kotal khan working together to conquer realms or save them or what if jax beat shinnok or lui kang with a hat

We learned from Cetrion's ending that evil will never cease to exist so i think Liu Kang is preparing Kung Lao for the threats to come because Liu Kang learned he can never truly wipe evil from exist but he can prepare people to stand against it

I admit, although this game made me a fan of Shang Tsung, I do love the look of utter shock and horror on his face as he is erased from history. It's like his whole plan blew up in his face and he is well aware of it.
