THE LAST OF US 2 ENDING Gameplay Walkthrough Part 31 [4K PS4 PRO] - No Commentary (FULL GAME) relaxhedx: As someone with PTSD, I really liked the ending of this game. This is just my opinion, but for me - At the end Ellie was suffering with PTSD, obviously
- not sleeping, not eating, the flashbacks, the going off by herself into the woods, and the feeling she HAD to go after abby - is realistic to me. it's difficult to describe anyone without it, but PTSD can often feel like you are physically trapped with no way out of your own reality. That your whole life is closing on you. That the past is forever there, suffocating you. Obviously you relive it through flashbacks, but it's more than that.
When Ellie said she had to go after abby, it was because she felt she had to not because she wanted to - She wanted to stay with her new family, but she had to stop her brain reliving the traumatic past again and again. She had to escape the trap, and she felt the only way was to kill abby - the person who really made her feel trapped to begin with. but I think she knew, deep down, it wouldn't help her escape. but hey, desperate times, amiright?
When ellie finally confronted abby, what were her words? -I cant let you leave- She could have said anything else -I won't let you leave- or -I'm going to kill you-. Those would be words from someone confident, someone making the rules. but she didn't. those words -I can't let you leave- were very specific. they're words from someone not in control - someone who feels they didnt make the decision. A soldier following orders would say -I can't let you leave- or someone feeling like they had no choice in the matter, someone trapped -
like ellie.
At the very end ellie didnt have to kill Abby. When she was on the verge of killing abby, when abby couldnt fight back and was about to drown, Ellie had basically won at that point. it didnt even matter if abby lived or died past that point, as there was nothing abby could have done to change the outcome, and ellie realized that she probably has -won-. And it didn't help. There was no opening of the trap, it didnt fix anything so she let abby go and she wept. still trapped.
It wasnt until she came back, sat alone with guitar she could no longer play, and thought about joel and forgiveness that, maybe, she realized that the only way out of the trap was to forgive mistakes of the past. forgive yourself for not being able to change the past. forgive others for being human.
I dunno. maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see, see what makes sense to me. But still, I like the ending. People complain about the ending, saying ellie didn't get her revenge against abby. but they miss the fact that everything after the farmhouse - Ellie isnt going for revenge. Shes going because she feels like she has to, to try to fix herself.

This game is just awesome. Deep Emotion packed a Great game. Many people do not like that much how the story has gone. For me, I waited for this game for 5 years and it exceeds my expectations. Combat, Graphics, Intense moments are marvelous, This game has done a great job of showing the story from the top view not preferring one character. And they did it also knowing many will not like it. If anyone sees the story from the top point of view and also the gameplay, they will probably say It's a masterpiece.
Abby is a very strong and good character, She spares Ellie two times and forgives in spite of what she did(killing every friend she has even pregnant women.
what Joel did, he got what he deserved, Ellie also hated him for what he did. She also was torturing him a different way for a long time after knowing the truth(distancing from Joel and ending relationship with him) and She hates herself for torturing him like that and not restoring their relationship when there was time. That's the real pain she has been avoiding facing during these revenge quests. When she has the flashback to the scene on the porch with Joel and spares Abby, she's not just forgiving Abby, she's really forgiving herself and finally coming to terms with what happened between her and Joel, so she leaves his guitar in the house to rest and allows herself to start a new life. -
It was really a great game, I give it 6 out of 5.

Was that last fight absolutely necessary? If it wasn't there literally nothing would happen lol. Sooooo, after watching this thing whole (spent 2 days on it, the game as game part is rather ok, but nothing spectacular, and storywise, which is more important in TLOU after all. Well yea. It conveyed the message and got (at least some, many seem to be blind still) people thinking and understanding. It's fine, but not as good as first TLOU was, which is kind of a letdown. I don't really care about Ellie being into girls (even though it seems bit forced in, has no reason to be that way storywise) or Lev being man in woman's body (which actually fits ok, someone like that would have great problem in heavily traditional religious cult like Scars are, but I expected something bit more. If first one was 10/10 (and damn right it was, this is 8, 5/10, solid game but not a groundbreaker. If I had a playstation and bought the game, I'd probably go with -hmmmmm, not that bad, it's ok-.

This game's story is HAUNTING. It's been weighing on my mind, so here's the happy ending theory I've developed. I think Jesse's parents offered to help care for JJ a little while after Ellie left Dina. So Dina is back in Jackson. Ellie may never tell Tommy the truth, maybe just something like, -I took care of it, - or, -I drowned her. - I think all Dina wanted was to have this family experience. I believe she will/has forgiven Ellie. I wonder if Ellie will be able to sleep now that she's worked out her aggression and self-blame.
And everyone speculating about the 3 finger comment, the original meaning was one guy criticizing another, joking that the guy's manhood is only long enough to need 3 fingers.
Maybe it has a double meaning when we consider that Ellie lost 2 fingers, but the original context was -bro humor, - I believe.
What are your thoughts about the ending?

Both Ellie and Abby suffered because of Joel. Ellie because of Joel's MASSIVE lie and Abby because Joel killed her father and indirectly caused the death of her closest friends and loved ones. The real villain in this entire series is Joel for being selfish. His selfishness in deciding Ellie's fate during the surgery in the firefly hospital. His selfishness in lying to Ellie for years. For thinking that he could have another daughter. He caused more pain unto others than good. He never thought about the people he killed in that hospital. He never thought about letting Ellie decide for herself. He only thought about his wants because he couldn't get over the fact that his daughter died. As if he was the only one who lost someone during the outbreak.

Abby DID suffer for killing Joel. A heckuva lot. She lost almost everyone and everything she had left. She chased a fool's delusion and ended up enslaved and suffering. In the end, it was only by Ellie's decision to not sink to her level that she survived. She has only Lev now, everything else in her life is all shattered. And it would have been kind of bad if Ellie hadn't spared her since that would have meant Lev's death. It wouldn't have been a clean revenge and would have likely made Ellie feel even worse. She held Abby's life in her hands and then chose to spare her - that's the only way she walked out of this able to live with herself.

Just watched the entire 1st and 2nd game play through in a row, never played the game myself. What a great journey, and the game is like a TV show that you join in with. I feel like I'm going to miss it.
Bit motion sickness inducing when during game play the character is swaying left and right looking for stuff in drawers and cupboards in buildings haha but otherwise really enjoyed it. Thanks for posting, see ya.
Btw, any other games playthroughs like this anyone would recommend, something with some story and substance to it? Cheers.

I didn't have the time to watch this game play but i finally did it. Thank you very much -MKIceAndFire, really thank you for letting me watch this amazing game with such a awesome story, i don't have PS4 so this is the only way i play video games, just watching you. Really make me cry a little bit on this final scene with Joel and watching Ellie lose everything even when Abby was dying without knowing that.
Thank you for those 31 videos of the game, maybe Ellie ended alone living his worse fear but here you're for me men.

>>Aunt May: I don't think it's for us to say whether a person deserves to live or die. Uncle Ben meant the world to us. But he wouldn't want us living one second with revenge in our hearts. It's like a poison. It can - It can take you over. Before you know it, turn us into something ugly. Well, you start by doing the hardest thing: You forgive yourself. I believe in you, Peter. You're a good person. And I know you'll find a way to put it right. In time.

What a sad tale. A story about revenge and how it can consume you and cost you everything. Have to say I don-t hate this games story as much as a lot of other people do. And I-m down for a good long lasting hate-fest of bad media (looking at you Game of Thrones season 8) but I don-t have the same feeling towards this. Feels like people are too hooked up to the fact that Abby killed Joel early in the game and never could get past it.
reply

i think what the game dvelopers wants us to know is that revenge doesn't bring you back what you've lost, it only takes more things from you, it consumes you, it tortures you till you have nothing more left. Ellie realized that in the last moment of her revenge, she realized that killing abby would't get Joel back to her, she would have just took Abby from Lev so she backed off. Masterpiece.
reply

Abbys father wanted to cure millions by taking dinas life, Joel loved dina to much to allow for that to happen so the unfortunate tale unfolded, dinas love for joel was just as strong and it proved her undoing. such a sad ending, that last porch scene, it would have been nice for joel to have said that her life mattered more than anything as she obviously thought her life had no value.
reply

this is so sad game ending This game is like of my life taking a revenge for people that to do something bad to you but in the end it's better to just leave everything to yourself so that you can live in peace
that's the best way to get revenge just let it all go then just take him a karma
-god getting you live better and peace

Rare are the games that can put through so many emotions. This is a great game and few artistic creations let you live such things. I feel so conflicted. The last fight was very hard to watch. Damn I feel emotionally drained. This is such a tragic story.
reply

Far more emotionally invested in the original last of us. Last of us 2 had its perks but they could have left out alot of the political bs! Decent game, but not a fan. I waisted 6 years for the last of us 2, and was greatly disappointed!
reply

This game was very dark and disturbing and left me totally depressed. However, the direction, the actors. the graphics and the realism made it the best I have ever seen. I hope there will be a third one, I hope Ellie finds happiness.
reply

I wish the player got to choose how the game ended whether it's by sparing her or killing her.
In my personal opinion I definitely would have killed her! She beat Joel to death with a golf club! -

It-s crazy to think that tommy and Maria separated bcze of Tommy-s determination to find Abby and bcze of the promise he had with Ellie. Tommy himself fell victim to the revenge mindset wow.
reply

Okay I still really don't like Abby and think she should have died but her skinny character model here definitely looks better than in the rest of the game. Kinda reminds me of Jane in TWDG. -
reply

Bro, some people say this is the best game ever (both parts) but they are wrong, and if you think like this too you are wrong too, because this is the best THING ever created by mankind
reply

I know this series was posted a while back but I couldn't get a chance to watch it till now. I just want to say, thank you MKIceAndFire. Really appreciated the work you do. Cheers mate
reply

Many people hated it but damn I loved this game. These mental struggles Ellie and Abby can go through are totally one point. I also love the fact there-s no happy ending
reply

-If I ever were to lose you, I would surely lose myself-
Joel died.
Ellie lost herself.
-You don-t know the value of what you have until you lose it-

reply

Joel: -If somehow the lord gave me a second chance at that moment. I would do it all over again-
This scene. It perfectly shows how much Joel loves Ellie: (

When our mind is filled with rage & revenge we lose our precious PRESENT. For which past is like pestilence & future UNKNOWN.
Story 10/10

reply

this was so sad it made me cry my eyes out i couldnt watch the abby and ellie fight secene it just hurted to watch and the end has me crying
reply

Hatred, internalization and self responsibility and is hard. But all of those are choices have to be balanced. Only one isn-t needed.
reply

In her own way Ellie forgave Joel even though he died before she could tell him
his spirit knows that she did and can now R. I. P.

reply

This is so sad to watch. I didn't like what they did to Joel, but the fact that Ellie can't play guitar anymore makes it even sadder.
