I kind of wish Tanya had her own chapter in this game. Because MK1 actually acknowledges that this version of Tanya isn't -normal-. It outright states she usually still ends up being a traiterous asshole in other timelines. So I'd love to see a chapter with her, maybe even have her meet an alternate version of herself. Just so we get a sense of why this Tanya is so different and what makes her tick.
(Because yes, the plain, boring answer is -The writers were probably sick of writing treacherous minion Tanya-, but everything in every story you've ever heard happens because the writer wants it to happen. The trick is to do it in such a way that it feels organic and the audience doesn't question it)

They stripped Tanya of all character just to make her Mileena's girlfriend. What made their relationship interesting was that we didn't know how much on Tanya's side was genuine love for another vs. her manipulating Mileena's desire for affection for her own gain. By stripping both characters of their foundation, we're left with. A bland -forbidden love because of duty- dynamic. MK1 really feels like an experiment in how far they could go in just stripping all characters of theirdefining traits and have a bunch of stand-ins use their names.

It's 100% a joke. But when I finally saw that scene between Mileena and Tanya all I could think was -Ladies, is it gay to ask another woman for a drink of water? Why are you as a grown woman, asking another woman to give you life sustaining liquids. It implies you can't live without her. Which is gay. -
As far as Tanya in this story though, didn't like her role. I'm sure there's a lore reason as to why Liu made her this super loyal, royal servant. But they did a lot and nothing with it at the same time.

She is basically Jade now. the only difference is that she has a b-ner for Mileena.
Update: They wasted her potential by turning her into Jade, I don't care that she is black. They could have made her betray Sindel without having to make her evil. For example, Shang Tsung could have shown up to her and tell her -help me get rid of Sindel and I will heal Mileena. also by getting rid of Sindel nothing will impede your relationship with Mileena. -

Ya know I-m liking this Tanya, not only because she-s loyal, or that she-s black, or that she and Mileena literally make thee cutest couple in the MK franchise (like seriously that-s too freaking cute how they secretly but not so secretly love each other, but also because she leads what basically equals to the Amazons and she-s technically Wonder Woman and I can-t lie that-s pretty badass to me.

MKX Tanya is much better. had this person been a new character, I'd be fine with her, still wouldnt be crazy about her because I find her quite boring. but MKX Tanya was way more captivating. this version feels like a completely different person.
