Apologies about the interview audio on this video! We were battling loud air conditioning and a lawn mower right outside that made audio editing a nightmare. And that creaking sound in the first few minutes is the chair creaking. Hopefully with the extra week to work on the rest of the footage, the audio can be tweaked more to sound better for part 2!

It was a tough one. The air conditioning was picked up VERY loud and audio editing isn't my strong suit to begin with. Also at one point the groundskeepers for his home were outside mowing and using a weed whacker which made things even more difficult, lol. David spoke softly for most of the interview so it was hard to get the audio cleaned up.

Haha awesome interview though, I can never get enough lord of the rings! what kind of mic did you use for this interview? it sounds like you used two separate mics one in camera and one out of camera mic but you tried to clean up the white noise with Adobe Soundbooth or something? you get that weird pixelated oscillating noise: P

Great interview for its candor and insight, but it's guys like this who've been killing the art of cinema for a long time. Relying on test audiences, marketing anti-buzz, etc. .. and it didn't take a lot of guts or vision to produce a LOTR trilogy. How many generations were fans of the series?

I was just listening intently! Actually, I found after that if I had the camera on me raised a bit, the change in perspective made me look more like I was listening and less like I was bored. The lower angle made my eyes look heavier. Yet another thing I learned about interviews for next time!

See my response to bestsupscriptions comment below. I've got more time to do next week's episode than I did this week's, so hopefully I can do a better job on the sound mix for that one. The audio conditions where we shot this were just TERRIBLE though.

You added a remove noise filter but you turned it up too much. I'd rather just cover up the white noise with music rather than make it sound like I was recording audio with cellphones.

I added a note at the beginning. I knew the sound was going to be an issue in post, but unfortunately that's just what I had to work with: ( Glad you liked the interview though!
