An adapter won't affect the crop factor, because it's simply placing the lens the appropriate flange distance from the sensor, but because the sensor on the BMPCC is smaller than Canon cameras, you'll get a tighter shot.

The BMPCC will work fine with a SD card from Blackmagics approved list. I use Extreme Pro 95mbps and it works great. RAW is now being BETA tested, so expect that update soon. They wont add H. 264, its a Cinema Camera. Live ISO/ASA white balance are being looked at for possibly hotkey use.

It's not m43 it's MFT.
As for using your EF lenses, check out some adapters, although I suspect they'll be a tad expensive, given that they'll either be electronic or have their own aperture control, given that EF lenses commonly don't have aperture rings.

I like the visual dynamic range. Cool review, and Griffin I'm glad you finally received your camera. Have fun; the BMPCC looks to pack a lot for relatively little $, compared to many other alternatives. like Red, a great camera but a bit pricy.

Excellent overview of a camera that will shake the world of videography. I'm still using a GH2 with Moon 7 from Driftwood, it records at 1Gig per minute too (I use the same SD card - Sandisk 45. Keep up the great Black Magic experiments.

Are there multiple compression ratios on the blackmagic pocket cinema camera? For example would I be able to select a higher compression ratio if I was out and about and didn't have enough memory space to shoot fully uncompressed?

Weird I can shoot RAW Video from my t4i perfectly with that exact card. (without any dropped frames) It needs around 36MB/s write speed to do so. So I guess there is something messed up with the drivers/card slot of the BMCC?

What about all my EF glass? I have ZERO M43 glass and have been anticipating the Speed Booster that would make this conversion. I'm a click away from ordering this camera, but I am not willing to start over on lenses.

In my opinion, music in movies is the single most important factor to making a great movie. A crappy movie can be great with good music. A good movie can be crappy with crappy music. Just my two cents.

It does also have a video setting which captures a more saturated normal looking video. Most people will buy this to shoot in log or raw, but it is possible to get a usable video out of box.

Re: the camera getting warm, I confirmed w/ black magic that the camera is fine to run for 8+ hours and left it running or almost 24 with no issues, hdmi -> pc via capture card.

If they added H. 264 it would be like THE perfect camera for transitioning DSLR filmmakers! (and if they add firmware upgrades for adjusting iso and stuff live on the view screen.

Do you mean the BMPC? Either way, from my experience, even the Cinema Camera has frequent frame-dropping issue. I think it's a software issue share between all BM cameras.

Griffin, you -and Indmogul, are miles ahead of Dav Dugdale. His Learning DSLR Video is just that -his own learning. Indymogul viewers should be WAAAAAY beyond that.

That's why you need to grade. It's not grey, but desaturated or flat, allowing more dynamic range to be captured and fiddled with later, in post production.

Yeah, that's crazy. And I'm pretty sure with my 16GB cards, it was saying card full when I reached 12GB. Hopefully the new SD card I ordered does the job.
