Im sorry to say, the movie is unfortunately just like Jimmy Kimmel - a husk of its former self.
So much wasted opportunity. The framing device of the film was a great idea. To my surprise, Vera as Livia was a brilliant casting choice but the movie was just callbacks to the show and shallow political comparisons. Gandolfini was criminally underused and the whole movie was lacking in the psychology and nuance that made the show great.

gandolfini would be proud of his son and how the whole series evolved and the whole fanbase and impact in the popular culture that was created in the past years, i strongly believe the Sopranos os the best tv series ever far better than GoT, breaking bad or even the Wire!
p. s. who else missed the big guy, RIP Skip!

Just saw the movie on HBO, and I gotta say this movie is Soprano status. The actors did an amazing job portraying their characters, especially Vera Farmiga (Livia Soprano) was spot on. Definitely gonna spend the extra bucks to watch it on Theatre.

The fundamental question is, will he be as effective as a boss like his dad was? And he will be, even more so. But until he is, it's going to be hard to verify that he thinks he'll be more effective.

David Chase's quick impression of James Gandolfini's speaking style would make you think Gandolfini was always right about to puke.
Goodmornin', Jim!
UGH-BLURGH, hey pal.

It could have been something but it wasn't. Gandolfini was good but even he couldn't save this poor example of what they call a movie. dont waste your money or time.

What hooked me on the Sopranos was the dynamic between Tony's gangster life and Tony's family life. I loved Tony but I also LOVED Carmella.
