Robert Downey Jr. on Golden Globes Win for Oppenheimer, Getting Starstruck & Changing Eating Habits

Robert talks about winning a Golden Globe for Oppenheimer, taking a beta blocker beforehand, all of the celebrities he ran into, being nominated for an Oscar at 26, being the heavy favorite to win this year, still getting starstruck, his character Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer, working with Christopher Nolan, and his new book Cool Food. I love Robert Downey Jr. I watched him suffer from his addictions for so long. So young, so talented, so much to live for. He gave me so much hope that my son could make it too. Unfortunately, my son passed away from an overdose over Thanksgiving weekend at the age of forty after fighting for twenty years. I think the world of you and wish you much more success. You shine a light, you really do. Love you, live well.

Bamboo is a replenishing fiber; good for the planet vs trees for toilet paper. No idea how it would last as book material. Robert is concerned about our footprint on earth related to-what we eat. Maybe they should make hospital gowns out of bamboo It’s quasi permanent n doesn’t involve processing cotton. I bought two shirts out of bamboo n they got holes way before they were old enough to get holes! Fibers weren’t overlapped or bound together. Mire firmed than woven fibers.

Oppenheimer is one of the best movies of recent years. Takes a bit of focusing as there are so many great characters in the movie and you have to remember who's who but holyy. What a movie. I am definitely watching it again. Robert played his character so well too. At first you enjoy his character, a well spoken and smart dude, and as the time goes by you start to hate his guts.

Scott Baio is not a nice person. I met him at Knollwood golf course, in the restaurant, when I was a teenager. I admired him from Charles in Charge, and asked him for an autograph, and he replied, can’t you see I’m busy and blew me off. Granted he was having lunch, but could have responded more politely.

How in hell did he not win for Chaplin in 1993, I honestly believe that year he was better than Pacino in The Scent of a Woman. You are greatly loved Robert. I enjoy you in every movie you have ever done. Loved you in Only You with Marisa Tomei I hope you get your best supporting Oscar this year.

His performance in tropic thunder probably would have won him a best supporting actor in every year pre and post 2008.
The unfortunate thing was he got nominated in the year when Heath ledger pulled off the greatest perfomance as a supporting cast.

uuuh. pistachios and walnuts are waaay better for the environment, not cashews. nice try though RDJ. not only that but they're notoriously unethical because of the harm it does to workers. absolutely avoiding this book. what a fraud.

Oppenheimer did not defend the USA from the Na zis, he simply invented a cruel and ruthless way to k1ll millions of innocents at the push of a button with funds from all Americans. it is a shame to celebrate the history of a gen ocidal

Salieri was the super star at the time, Mozart struggled to get public attention all his adult life. Haydn was his supporter, but he was niche. Salieri was such a star that he premiered Beethoven symphonies as a conductor.

He’s simply the best…his charisma, energy, talent, passion for everything he does, it’s something you don’t see everyday. He deserves EVERYTHING good will come on his way. So so so proud of him always❤

The Navajos of New Mexico who worked in the Uranium mines still have not been compensated for having their land and their people destroyed by the radiation from the mines and from the bomb tests. This is the truth.

I thought that when Stephen Colbert and Robert Downey Jr looked similar when they were both young. But now Robert Downey Jr and Colbert sound alike. They have the same ups and down in their speech patterns.

Jimmy Kimmel didn't understand the movie.
Oppenheimer didn't save us from the nazis, that's actually the moral issue of the movie.
The nazis were already gone by the time they dropped the bomb.

People say he deserves this Oscar, I think his performance speaks for itself and he should win based on that alone and not because of his long career which no doubt has been incredible.

He was excellent! Congratulations. His interaction will Cillian was the highlight of the movie. Glad Oppenheimer did so well, a one of kind movie.

Yes, tell the poors to go without while corporations are overwhelmingly the main cause of climate change. Bet Robert still takes private jets.

I'm such a big fan of RDJ. Love him!
But I'm rooting for Ryan Gosling to win the Oscar in this category. ❤he was just as brilliant

He’s gotta take it, man. His performance was amazing. I couldn’t tell it was him for a minute probably when he first showed up in the film.

Let’s be honest: his self absorbed nature is a turn off. I know he’s charismatic but he’s so self centered. Unlike Keanu or Cillian

I waited on Downey's personal chef (older and fit gentleman) years ago, and he gave me wonderful life advice: eliminate sugar.
