The ultimate game in Access Software's Leaderboard series, WCLB is one classy 80's golf sim. EGA graphics, RealSound, super-sensitive controls, yeah! Rykemasters: Oh, man. I was born in 1991, and until a couple years ago, my grandparents had an old IBM PS/1 computer from probably 1989 that I still played old games on. And one game that I remembered from childhood but was no longer there in recent years was a golf game, which I'm pretty sure was this one. I didn't read/understand English back then, so the title didn't ring a bell, but the title screen seriously jogged my memory. I remember trying to puzzle out what most of the audio was, but I definitely remember the -looks like he hit the tree, Jim- one. It frustrated my father and brother a lot.

I had an old IBM Personal Computer 2 model 25 and this was one of the few if not the only game on it. I didn't know about the EGA graphics, and literally always wondered why the colors were so strange, I mean, why did the clouds have to be neon green? Well just today playing it in dosbox online I tried the other graphics settings to finally discover I could have sort of normal looking colors in this game! Fantastic. Like others have said, so many memories with this game and glad to see that -Looks like he hit the tree, Jim- is seared into so many other people's minds.

Oh wow! I remember I've played this on DOS! And this is a DOS game that I've actually completely forgot about for years (or decades. I mean I've played a lot of DOS games and now days I usually I bump into old games from time to time, but that one was off my radar for a long time, mostly because golf isn't my thing really. Even though it wasn't something spectacular, I liked the game mechanics, something so many golf games couldn't convince me. To this date, I still think it is more addictive and far better than any other golf game I've ever played.

The one thing I disliked about the World Class Leaderboard games, regardless of the system they were on, was that every single hole of every course was completely surrounded by a wall of trees.
I forget whether it's the C64 or Amiga version, but on one of them, the tree graphics were stored as separate files on the disk, making it possible to change the type of trees on a course by copying the tree files from a different course. Not a big deal really, but it was nice that you could do stuff like that.

Hey LGR, I have a question that multiple people may answer, but If I Pre-Order the Sims 4 Digital Deluxe on Origin on September 2nd, how will I get the game? Like, will it say at midnight -It's September 2nd, Sims 4 will now download-? Because TS4 is actually the FIRST game I've ever pre-ordered on Origin.
And I don't care what anybody says, I am still pre-ordering the game. I don't care If there is no swim wear. So If anyone tries to tell me to wait, I will say no.

Wow that RealSound is incredible! Never knew that was possible from the PC speaker. I Wiki'd it and see that RealSound was sadly only used in a handful of games. Would love to see you cover some of the others to hear/learn more about it. Like Mean Streets for example, which I see is a Tex Murphy game (I've never played a Tex Murphy but I think I've read they're good) and doesn't seem to have much YT coverage. Or even better, an Oddware episode dedicated to RealSound?

This game is just great. My first experience with a golf game was in a macintosh. It blew my mind. But when my dads laptop was at my reach, this game and ms paint was the best reason to steal my dads laptop and just wonder around. Everything was great till the day I overload the shit out of the laptops capacity with the space quest series, the prince of persias series, and more than 40 other games and the laptop just kept reinitiating. It was frightening as hell.

Yeah, I remember one of the Links games (couldn't tell you which one since it was just called like -Microsoft Golf- on the disc/case) coming with the first computer our family had, and while it definitely feels like an evolution of the Leader Board games, it also makes a lot more sense and does a better job of helping you understand how to play it.

Hey Clint I showed this video to my Dad who used to play this game on his 286 work PC in the early 90s. He was good at it and it is the ONLY game I have ever seen him play. He said maybe you should learn how to play golf to get good at it. I face palmed not only because of the boomer 'git gud' reference but also the fact my Dad's name is Jim.

I remember also being blown away with the sound coming from the PC speaker at a friends house. Usually a computer with -sound- would have big honking Labtec or Creative speakers to the left and right of the monitor. But when I heard those birds, I was like -Wha? Where the heck is the sound coming from? -
