LGR - Worst Classic PC Game Cover Art

Taking a look at the crappiest, cheapest, most awful big box PC game covers I have in my collection! Prepare yourself, it's gonna be messy IdealFiasco: Welcome to the Future's box art could actually be more than it is letting on. Perhaps the future looks as it does because some event happened that leveled the future to just an iceberg in the void. Perhaps the story is of a demon-like creature that seeked vengeance on the world, so he destroyed everything in a cold nuclear apocalypse (as in the nuclear explosions were actually below freezing temperature. The medallion-stone-thing on the front could be an object the player must find, but it is split across 3 zones in the iceberg, hence -BSE- for sections B, S, and E. The three sections however are also split through time, but they are still in the future because the -future- referenced in the title could also be referring to alternate timelines (similar to Back to the Future. So to recap, maybe the box art is actually really good because of its symbolism of elements vital to the conflict and resolution to the legend that could exist in the game.
That, or someone just learned how to use the layer tool in Photoshop along with forgetting how to change their default font from Times New Roman.

I'm an artist and I love videos like this. From my perspective, video game covers are different from fine art so it's fine to critique them because they are a commercial product first. In the case of -Ken's Labyrinth-, -Jill of the Jungle-, etc. it might be a little unfair to blame the graphic designer / illustrator for the weird art style. The person responsible for choosing the appropriate style / artist is usually the Art Director. Maybe the company just hired whoever they could get?

Oh man, that game cover for -The Kristal- really does look horrible! It's super tacky looking and i do remember the older review that you did of it as well (you even mentioned it in this video. I just had to go back and re-watch that review. It didn't seem like it was that great of a game although some of the concepts were kinda neat i guess. Also about that -Mystery of the Druids- cover. there are no words for that one.

While not actual games with orginal artwork, the D! Zone and H! Zone boxes by WizardWorks look pretty awful as well, mainly due to the boxes using -simulated- screen shots instead of real ones. Such horrible marketing but i mean, come on! I'm not sure if that was a common thing or not in the 90's though. Maybe from third-party developers/publishers?

HAHAHA Poor little big adventure. I remember when I choose it from the shelf of a store, with just 6 or 7 years old. I remember my thoughts exactly when look at the cover:
-Angry guy? Check
-Sword? Check
-Dragon? Check
-Castle? Check
And that's all, I told my dad to buy this one and I don't regret at all! What a great game for god's sake.

I liked Virtuoso, especially played with the midi music. I was trying to be a rocker at that time and the main character looked cool. It's not a good game but I liked the music and the atmosphere of the spooky episode.
Check out any of the the Phoenix Games cover art, they are bad and I think they know it.

11: 20 -Get me outta here-
Pretty sick to imagine that this dog is actually a sentient being crying out beyond space in time for anyone to help him because he's trapped in some sort of nightmarish purgatory dimension surrounded by small PEZ Dispenser-esque statues of his deceased companions.

seems like Problem Sleuth, a comic by none other than Andrew Hussie, has references to The Mystery of the Druids. for example, in TMotD, you have to re-assemble a phone to use it to progress in the game. the same thing happens in PS. also, PS uses a similar drag-and-drop inventory system.

Tongue if the Fat Man looks like they were making a serious art of the mouth and nose but then somebody graffiti'd over it.
-Oh no somebody vandalized the cover art-, -No time to fix, just send it. -
Spear of Destiny looks like an 80s metal album.

All Epic Megagames games in '93 - '94 had the worst box art. Cartoon-y, very little to do with the game. But they were decent games. Ken's Labyrinth, Jazz Jackrabbit, Zone 66, all the Pinball games, all pretty good games, all goofy boxes.
