We had that same answering machine from 9: 50 back in the mid 80s. The outgoing tape was a loop but the incoming tape was standard. One of the other commenters mentioned a remote for it. You would call home, then play a beep from the remote and when the machine heard it, it would play your messages. No idea why they didn't just have it respond to some touch tone code. This is information my brain thinks is worth hanging onto for some reason.
The best part though was the grooved texture on the main control. Like ASMR for your fingertips.

I have never seen a computer sold for under 50 bucks at any thrift store I've been to, and it's been a long time since I've seen one under $100. When I want old computers I usually go to ebay and craigslist. But damn I wish one of the stores around my town sold old desktops that cheap, but maybe I just don't see them because they go so fast. But I do go to thrift stores almost every weekend

I'm sure someone has suggested this to you already but I would LOVE to see this on TV, a show with a humorous and witty guy going to thrift stores around the country! My husband and I watch your videos like a TV show and get really excited for them lol. Thanks so much for sharing! Sending love from Chicago!

These videos make me so jealous. I wish we had goodwilll stores like this here in Ireland. We do have charity and 2nd hand shops but mostly only sell clothes, kitchen ware, ornaments and small selections of CDs, DVDs, Games (sports, But never electronics. Oh man I wish they sold electronics here too.

Had one of those M-Audio midi devices. Honestly worked really well with my crappy electric drum kit.
However, don't expect to play live into FL Studio and hear the results at the same time. Mine had a half second or so delay.
(It could be the drum kit doing that, not the adapter)

Value Village. Their business model is taking donations and selling for a profit. Most people equate thrift stores with charity. In reality they misrepresent themselves and con people into donating at drop boxes and retail locations with the idea it benefits some charity.

13: 47-13: 52 I've learned alot from this series about good thrifting. But, that point is one of the most important ones. Sometimes it's good to leave behind cool stuff for someone who is going to appreciate it more then you would. It's like thrifters looking out for one another.

Fur Fighters is great. It's a pretty solid third person shooter/platformer that's surprisingly gory, but it gets away with it because they're stuffed animals. You can literally shoot an enemy's head off, then go kicking it around like a soccer ball.

I had that exact compaq. The whole system was. a compaq. Ran xp but the worst part was the gummy, flat, chiclet keyboard. Still with that gray and black scheme. I loved that thing tho bc I was a kid and it ran all my games just fine.

My family had that exact Radio Shack answering machine when I was a little kid. I'm curious how old it actually is because I'm only 25. I think it lasted till about the time I was ten before it finally broke and we had to replace it
