LGR - Best Games of 2016

My personal, subjective list of the best computer and video games of 2016! Big games, small games, all games, I'm sick but okay Blake: My 2c: I finally installed Doom a few weeks ago and played it for a few hours and completely lost interest. By comparison, earlier this year all the hype around the new Doom alerted me to the existence of the Brutal Doom mod, which I installed and couldn't stop playing until I beat all of Doom 1 & 2 for like the millionth time. Shrug. I guess I'm just in the minority on this one.
Meanwhile, shortly after losing interest in Doom I installed XCOM 2 and didn't emerge from my PC room for a week.

For me, I'd include Enter the Gungeon. Its essentially Binding of Issac merged with a bullet hell and all the creepy and depressing elements swapped out with humour and bad gun puns.
Its also hard as balls.
Stardew Valley was also lovely because now I can play Harvest Moon on the PC without using an emulator, plus it has mods, and Pony Island was one of the cleverest games I've played in a long time, with some of the creepiest fourth wall breaking sections I've encountered.

I've been playing a lot of Fire Emblem: Fates this year. First fire emblem game(s) I've played and I can understand the appeal. Also I feel like I would enjoy planet coaster quite a lot if I could get more than 25 frames at most out of it. The same goes for Doom. Hearts of Iron 4 was pretty neat. Shadow warrior 2 was a nice little distraction. Basically every game I played this year I enjoyed in some form or another.

Anima Gate of Memories, Shadwen, Super Mario Run are my best games of 2016.
Anima gate of memories is one of the best games I ever played and maybe the best true indie (made by 3 people) ever made.
Shadwen is a nice little stealth game.
Super Mario Run is really nice and fun, one of the first new quality game on mobile.
I also played many old/not-2016 games.

this list needs more dark souls 3 imo. Hands down the only non mmo game that kept me hooked for months and only game i've even beaten more than 10 times, and beaten it with a lvl 1 character.
Like seriously what rpglike games other than the souls series allows you to beat them through shear skill and willpower at level one?

i still have Doom and Bloodborne in their wrapper. I keep meaning to prove everyone right or wrong, but the limbo of backlog is real. Luckily, my list is of the games I play all year and not released this year. It makes it. diverse. lol. Also, I liked Watchdogs, hacking traffic lights and explosives and all.

I would add Shadow Warrior 2 to your list. The game is influenced by Duke Nukem, Serious Sam, Doom and Borderlands. It isn't a long game (takes about 20 or so hours to finish, but it has some replay-ability. It is on sale for about $30 on Steam.
. I would also add Deus Ex Mankind Divided.

Hi, can you talk about these games: Maddog Williams in the dungeons of duridian, gobliiins, Woodruff and the schnibble, Maniac Mansion, Boppin', Hugo's games, Gods, Prehistorik 2, Mystic towers, Prince of persia; I don't know if you have already reviewed, sorry in case

I really am not keen on VR. I did like Doom quite a bit. I'm tired of the -non-single-player- FPSes. Doom was a pleasant change to the 15 minute campaigns in the CoD universe.
I don't mind that VR is taking off. I just can't handle it (vertigo. so I'll be missing out. :)

For me 2016 was:
Quantum Break, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Nascar Heat Evolution, Planet Coaster, Watch dogs 2 and yes No man's Sky. (and yes i didn't like Doom) everyone taste is different and as LGR says it very well each year: THIS IS MY LIST! :)
