Done it numerous times but what really caught my attention was the voice mail messages left on phones and some of the stuff you learn of your boss from data hacked from laptops that have been left lying around or discarded in Armachan's headquarters complex and then the true horror of what they had been doing more to the point what Harlan Wade had been doing in the way of experiments dawns on you and you then realize that point man realizes who he truly is it's a stunning and sobering shock on learning. A fantastic game over all.

Only getting to this review in 2021 but mate, your scripting in this is just on point! Bloody well written and edited review =D
Like many here this makes me remember just how good this game was, with mechanics, visuals and phsyics that we just take for granted these days. Oh and those benchmarking tools. chasing those digits was one of my favourite past times with mates. Pretty sure this is what got me into overclocking

The very first computer I built for myself was the Intel Quad Core 2. 66 CPU with Dual Geforce 9800s, this and farcry 2 were my go to's to stress test my rig at the time. ahh memories, I was in the Army at the time too if it wasn't for my buddy teaching me how to build computers I wouldn't be where i am today lol

I thought it was decent but by 2005 the whole bullet time shenanigans made popular by the Matrix and scary psychic little girls thing (which that for whatever reason still goes on) was played out. I thought it was a competent shooter that was probably geared more towards teenagers but nothing more than that.

I remember just passing my dad playing this on the computer when I was a kid, and that blood on the ceiling sequence stuck with me forever. It wasn't scary, I just wanted to know what the hell was going on. I never got to play it since he sold all of our hard copies when steam became a lot more popular.

I'd like to point out that FEAR looked so goddamn good then and still quite nice now has less to do with graphics engine and more with the work of artists and graphic designers. It saddens me how this aspect of game development gets repeatedly overlooked by both reviewers and game developers.

Gem of a game. In my heart secretly better than even the likes of half life series from gameplay standpoint. The a. i. The way explosions and gun play looks. Also being one of the first games i seen bullets leave actual holes in the walls. Slow mo, cant go wrong with that too.

Just as a note, this game was created assuming you'd have windows media player installed (something that isn't always a guarantee any more. If you don't have it installed, the audio doesn't work, and triggers set to occur after audio plays will be mis-timed as a result.

The rise and shine dr. Freeman part had me laughing.
I played a wack ton of fear Perseus mandate multiplayer, and I tell you what it was probably the best experience I ever had in online FPS multiplayer. I was amazed at how balanced all the weapons were to each other.
