Asus Lamborghini: 4, 000 Windows Vista Laptop from 2007

After Acer began selling Ferrari laptops in the mid 2000s, it wasn't long before competing companies followed suit with their own branded computers! This is one of them, the Asus Lamborghini VX2S from 2007. Specifically the Ultimate Bundle, which cost roughly 4, 000 on launch! KajurN: Heh i remember this era of laptops. Chonky with low battery life and hot and weak processors/GPUs and they got obsolete in very little time especially for gaming thanks to new versions of DX making games unplayable not that long after you bought them, don't miss it one bit. We bought an HP in 2008 for our mother for 800usd and although it was alright, it didn't take long for it to become obsolete, in fact the Dell i bought in 2010 was already quite a lot better and it wasn't even that good compared to the desktops at the time. In comparison my brother's 2011 macbook is still perfectly usable and in decent condition.

Great stuff as always, Clint. The VX3 and later models were released during the decade I worked for Pegatron (and Asus directly to begin with, the spun-off manufacturing/ODM/OEM arm of Asus in engineeering support for a US repair facility. There seemed to be a lot of units on this G53 platform that came back needing repair, though there were certainly less of the Lamborghini-series units that would pass through simply due to the non-branded G53J/JW/JH/S/SW/G/GW/etc (and the G73 17 models too) simply having more units sold. a lot of GPU and screen issues I think but don't remember for sure. I personally had a cheaper Asus G51J 3D at the time (well, 3-4 years I think, which was a slightly older model than the G53 but still supported 3D Vision (had a i7-720QM and GTX 260M if I recall correctly and a lower res display. It was certainly cheaper than the Lamborghini models. But. I did get one of the notebook tote bags for the Lamborghini VX7) from an Asus employee, which I still use to this day (even though it's currently holding an Acer laptop.

Had a different wireless Asus Lamborghini mouse back in the day. It had a cool, but very edgy design, which made it bite into your palm rather uncomfortably. If I remember right, the model was also plagued with connection issues and overall the build quality was quite bad. I think it had a weirdly positioned DPI button on the middle of the mouse and only two side buttons. Back then small gaming mice were really hard to come by, so I was able to forgive its quirks and actually kind of liked the thing!

I have a Dell Precision laptop with a replaceable video daughterboard. It's BIOS-locked to the factory options for the model (and already contains the highest-end of the three, but I'm told they continued using that form factor and that if I hacked the BIOS, I'd be able to swap in a later, more powerful one. I suspect ASUS had a similar policy.

When so many humans are struggling to simply survive, this ostentatious display of vulgarity is both tasteless and crass - but do continue, I'm sure you can sink lower.
You show those plebs, go on - you're clearly so much better than everyone else.
Now delete my comment, show me what a big brave boy you are.

Did the esatap port come around on this model in 2008? Because if this was original launch that port wouldn't have existed yet. right? That port wasn't christened until 2008, but perhaps it did in fact show up early and this would be a key point of evidence towards the standard existing in 2007.

Uh oh. Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT. That GPU is known to fail and they used materials that were too cheaply made. That GPU was also used in other Dell and HP laptops, as well as The Lenovo ThinkPad T61 (also from 2007) and Apple MacBook Pro 15 inch and 17-inch models from 2007-early 2008.

Can we all take a moment to laugh at, mock and criticize the journalist that wrote an article during the format wars that the downside was no HD-DVD drive? Laughable. Shows how out of touch or plainly people writing tech articles don't understand tech.

I worked at a PC refurb/recycling place in Seattle for a couple years and saw a few Lambo (or maybe Ferrari) laptops, one was bright yellow, the other was bright red. They sold for some even though they were pretty much useless.

Oh my gosh, that windows energy screensaver at the end! I used that screensaver on my windows vista computer for years. I love it so much that I still use it on my present day main computer to this day and I have for years!
