This is a really small nitpick about you saying that this was the highest end display in the graphics series:
The G225f had a higher horizontal scan range (130khz vs 110khz of the G220fb) but was limited to 160hz rather than 180hz. But this allowed it to reach 80hz 1536p vs 68hz of the G220fb. So by most consumer standards I believe it would have been considered the higher model over the G220fb. It was however, limited to 160hz vertical refresh rate, but with a 130khz horizontal scan rate it allowed it to hit 160hz 768p, whereas on the G220fb it would have had to drop the pixel count to the 600s (though you could hit higher refresh rate the further down you go up to 180hz. I think back then, these were marketed for high resolutions rather than the higher vertical refresh rates, so I would think the G225f and its variants (G225f/G225fB/G225fSB) would be higher up.
The P227Fb and its variants were also of the same horizontal/vertical/dot pitch spec as the G225f model. But the P series is the Professional series, rather than the Graphics series. I don't know off the top of my head what tube those two models used.

I have an unfortunately dead IBM branded 21 Trinitron, and I miss it so much! A trick to get both high resolution and high refresh rate is to use interlacing. But depending on the graphics card and driver, it can be tricky to get it all to work exactly right.
I preferred using interlaced modes, because it seemed to make 2048x1536 a bit sharper and it seemed a bit easier on the monitor. it just felt like it wasn't straining as hard, somehow.

lower res on high resolution monitor looks so nice, i recently change from a 1440x900 monitor to 1366x768 and hot damn the pixels at low resolution like 480p is terrible, doesn't look as smooth anymore, but the higher res monitor have some weird ghosting going on and a little too dark so i have to made the ultimate switch

I was on the hunt for a cheap CRT last year, went to a few GoodWill stores, but didnt find one. On my way home, there was a TV sitting out by someones driveway that said free. Turned around and grabbed it. barely. free 27 Sharp flatscreen CRT. Nearly got a hernia getting it into the truck, but totally worth it.

That's 30kg of absolute cathode ray bliss. I had that USB thing populated, I think it was mostly used for controlling the OSD settings via software. I guess it might've had a hub too, not sure.
Anyway this was an absolute beast of a thing for FPS games. Quake 3, UT2k4, CS 1. 6 all at 120hz or better, heck yeah.

I remember right around the time this monitor came out, the first commercial flat screen LCD with high brightness came out, and I can't remember the brand. I do remember Thresh's Firing squad did a review of it and I wanted one so bad. Funny how times change. I'd much prefer this CRT obviously

Holy shit that monitor looks amazing, with specs to back it up too
I have one of those LCDs you showed from just a little bit beyond that period, vx924 display and yeah just image quality wise doesn't compare to a crt like that, even a Sony e220 from 2000 can outdo it in image quality

I got one of these that I use for my late 90s-early 00s gaming rig! I live in fear of the day that thing finally goes. I worked my butt off for that thing, and I'm pretty sure it was the first item over 500 that I bought with my own money! Oh man, right in the nostalgia!

As a kid I used to play this game which was similar to midtown madness but you also had like this country area and if you pressed some button you could view the NPC s view such as the airplane flying there or random cars. It was soooooooo fun but I don t know the name

I've never wanted a CRT monitor more - or thought one was legitimately stunning, aesthetically and spec/performance wise, until this glorious day! Thanks for the knowledge nugget, Clint - what a piece of kit. More real than real. Smoother than smooth. - LGR, 2022

I like the big CRTs, but they occupy to much same in a desk nowadays. I have a NEC Multisync FE1250+ and 2 Dell P1130 in collection and I don't even use them. Both Diamondtron and Trinitron have really high quality, I have still yet to try Ray-Tracing in them!

Fun fact: POD (Planet of Death) had copyrighted the use of the word Pod in any form of interactive entertainment, which is why Star Wars couldn t give their pod racer video game the obvious title of Star Wars Pod Racer, and had to just go with Star Wars Racer.

The blurriness on the edges (and then the middle when you get the edges sharp) is basically down to the edge convergence.
The OSD lets you make simply H/V adjustments, but you'll need to service it to fine tune the convergence on the edges.
