Movies That Teased Sequels That Never Happened PikachuchuTrain: To nitpick a bit, there actually is a sequel to Freddy vs Jason. Two of them, in fact. The script for the first one was complete, the the filming just about to begin when it was cancelled at the last second. So instead of an actual film, it was released as a comic book called Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. And yes, that's Ash from the Evil Dead-series. It later got another comic book sequel called Freddy vs Jason vs Ash: Nightmare Warriors. Both are well worth reading for fans of the movie. But the video is right that it didn't get a cinematic sequel.

Those were pretty obvious duds which obviously would never get a sequel but how about movies that did decently well and never received the second round despite having been set up to a sequel like Salt, Zombieland, Wanted and the third movie for Hellboy which would have explained the cryptic remark by the angel of death.

Disney was not the RIGHTS HOLDER of A Princess of Mars (the book John Carter was based on) or any of the first 7 books of the Barsoom series, by Edgar Rice Burroughs. They're in the Public Domain, as they were published before 1923. Please check your facts -- this information is very easy to find.

Kung pow seriously should have been on this list, we even got a trailer for its sequel when the movie finished, it was a hilarious parody and I'm still waiting, also the hills have eyes? number 2 ends with a mutant slamming his fist down on the monitoring laptop and we never even got wind of a 3rd movie

The most infamous film predicting a sequel that never happened was The Sword And The Sorcerer, which promised it in the film credits. A semi-sequel was made almost 30 years later but was never considered official.

John carter should've had a sequel. The only reason it didn't do well is (in my opinion ) that they tried to release the same time as the second hunger games movie. They should've waited. I thought it was an epic movie.

Better yet for Green Lantern, how about starting a WHOLE Franchise of movies around the Green Lantern movie? Yeah it was supposed to be the start of the DC Extended Universe before it was non cannon to it and all.

I hated the back to the future tease. Something happened with his kids, and they go off to the future, and they never let us know. that was bs. (now who is gonna be that one person to bite the bait)

it was a shame that the Green Lantern movie wasnt very good, it has so much potential to be awesome and they messed it up. and now the DCEU sucks as well (only Wonder Woman was awesome.
