MacGruber reminds me of the 1st four Farley Brother comedy films: unhinged, quaky comedy that is not scarred to go off the rails. You actually have to pay attention to the plot devices and the overacting was, well, acted really well. I thought it was going to be a large series SNL skits but it's a comedic gold and masterpiece of raunchy comedy. I will NEVER think of celery sticks the same way ever again. Yes, the movie is that good.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil is one of the best 'horror' comedies to ever come out. Do NOT watch the trailer if you want to see it. It gives away EVERY funny part. And they ARE frigging funny. Such a great concept! Turning the horror movie trope completely around but nobody knowing that that is actually happening. Such an awesome (and very bloody) movie! If you haven't seen it yet, DO! (and again. do NOT watch the trailer first)

Tucker and Dale vs Evil is one of the best 'horror' comedies to ever come out. Do NOT watch the trailer if you want to see it. It gives away EVERY funny part. And they ARE frigging funny. What We Do in the Shadows was pretty underground for a while, but now it's starting to get the love it deserves. The Death of Stalin was also one of the funniest to come out last year.
Everybody Wants Some doesn't come close to the same heights of Dazed and Confused. Popstar is a mess with only a few laugh out loud moments. Macgruber had as many laughs as the SNL skits ever got: 0.

Four Lions only got a limited release in the US (at least, I don't know anyone who's seen it) but it's extremely funny yet also packs an emotional punch (and in today's climate, you'd almost expect a satire about Islamist terrorists to be coming from a hateful/bigoted place, but it's refreshingly devoid of that. IMO it's not just a funny movie, it's a _good_ movie.

After Hours wasn't even remotely funny. There is nothing worse than a comedy that isn't funny. The only character I liked was that sweet wimpy guy talking to Dunne in the first scene. He tells him how he really wants to edit a literary magazine. Dunne is obviously not listening. So he's a total jerk, and then HE turns out to be the main character!

Add Netflix's THE BABYSITTER to the list. Billed as a horror for some reason, it's 85% laughs and 15% chills. It's wacky, weird, and has a surprising amount of heart and out-of-nowhere great performances by Sam Weaving and the kid who's name I don't remember right now and can't be bothered to look up.

Young Doctors in Love from 1982 - Sean Young (different look, but just as gorgeous as she was in Blade Runner from the same year, Michael McKean, Harry Dean Stanton. and lots of quirky casting choices. My favorite scene involves Hector Elizondo talking about playing the guitar.

Tucker & Dale is hilarious, the kind of movie I'd love to watch over and over again.
But Everybody Want Some was boring to me. I had to watch it several times online because I kept falling asleep. so I'm confused by this list right now.
