Itd be awesome if they didnt ruin the cool sci-fi bio thriller with a 15yr old girl as the protagonist.
How about a 35yr old trained micro-biologist/military combatant? Anime always throws me off with their small scale range of overly young characters. Nobody is doing that shit at 15, get real. Theres a large enough fan base of older viewers, wish they would start to cater to them a little more and make some more mature content. There is almost no limit on creativity in the animation realm which is what keeps it entertaining. If only they would stop selling themselves short with these simple kid flicks.

I dropped anime back in 2013, only watching some series like bnh and attack on titan from time to time. Anime was great, untill everything became fanservice. Why have a cool action anime when you can have another one of those 100 girls like 1 guy that has nothing special and is lame af anime?
Highschool of the death would have been amazing, but they just had to get that fanservice and pull out the ecchi card.
Untill anime goes back to normal, without 80% of the new releases being some ecchi harem shit I'll just stick around to 2-3 great anime per year.

I'm watching three anime this year: Darling in the FranXX, Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card and I'm waiting for AICO Incarnation and Persona 5 The Animation. This is an improvement from last year's one: Little Witch Academia.
Hopefully Persona 5's gonna live up to the trailer though! I know about A1's. notoriety for substandard productions. xD; To the point that I could totally see which part of DarliFra was made mostly by A1 and mostly by Trigger.

Attack on Titan and Steins Gate 0 really are the ones I'm interested in, Island doesn't look bad. I watched AICO, it was ok, it relied constantly on twists that kept coming and often felt forced. Although at the time this video came out am surprised Violet Evergarden (just stunning, grab your tissues boys and girls, it will break your heart) and B: The Beginning (was pretty good) aren't on here, or even the latest season of My Hero Academia.

watching old anime series that you have not watched is really something,
animation is outdated for sure
but most of the time, you really wont know what to expect,
or for my case, i do not expect and just watch it cause i know the story will be good and would not let me down
. nowadays most series just becomes a battle of who gives more hype and/or fanservice that most of the time watchers wont even care about the overall story

Typical mainstream stuff. Besides, FLCL is releasing this year. I also think anime is in a great place right now. There's something for everybody. Ecchi, Comedy, Slice of Life, Action, Romance. I've seen tons of great anime release. Also, Miyazaki doesn't make Anime, he makes Disney cartoons. Not saying his work isn't good but he even said himself that he doesn't make Anime. Miyazaki is a liar and dumb for thinking Anime is in a bad spot.

I would disagree that the anime industry is in a state of decline since (even though I do see people's points and I do agree with some criticisms) but lets be a honest here. Most movies nowadays from Hollywood are obviously trash, and now the gaming industry is starting to go down the toilet do to greedy publishers. The anime industry is at least doing better with quality than those other industries.

Am personally looking forward to new series rather than the already hyped continuations
. that being said __ Glad they are making short OVAs to conclude the relife series which I found it to be refreshing.
