Movie Scenes So Offensive They Had to Be Cut stever73: the general public, especially the ratings board, get so offended so easily that toning things down ruin what could have been better scenes. I go to the movies to be entertained, don't tell me that what I pay to go see is too much. People are too damn sensitive in recent years, everything offends somebody in some way at some point. Do some damn research and if you don't like what is in a movie, don't go watch it, but don't tell me it needs to be changed because it's offensive. We already need to deal with media toned down on TV, and don't get me started on the hyper-sensitivity to video games.

MPAA is killing the movie industry. They need to allow more than one version of the movie to be released at the same time like a PG version PG-13 version and a Rated R version and a unrated version as well of a movie like the deadpool movie and allow the people to decide what version of the movie they want to see. Allow the movie industry to operate the movie ratings multiple version will be released and tell the MPAA to take a hike and shove off even the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies would have been better with a Rated R or Unrated version than the PG-13 that was originally released.

I dont have time to read everyones replies to this so I dont know if anyones already written about the following. I was born in 61 so when The Exorcist came out, to me, it was the ultimate. I am in no way religious but Reagans vaginal stabbing with the cross and then shoving her mothers face on it was extremely disturbing to me and since the movie was already chock-full of scares and freaky shit, I think that that scene couldve been taken out and would not have changed the movie in anyway Still my favourite movie of all times!

Ok, let's be blunt. R ratings of movies exist with a reason. Just because someone thinks it could be ok to show blood, guts and gore to a child, doesn't mean they are right. Children (and 12 y. o. are there included) are still developing their brains and do get emotionally crippled from being exposed to violence. That is a fact. In a todays world we are seriously lacking compassion among kids and adults alike and there is no reason to enhance it further.
Rant over.

This is just another example of people in power making decisions they have no right to make. I get a bit pissed off when I hear about some useless prick deciding that something is too gory or rude or some other crap for me to watch, they have NO right to make decisions that impact on their audience. Sooner or later the public will signal to them by not wasting money on Disney like films.

There was a great scene cut from the first Spiderman movie. In the early trailers, some nasty bank robbers are escaping via helicopter from the roof when their flight comes to an abrupt end as the chopper is caught like a fly in the web Spidey has spun between the World Trade towers. Unfortunately, 9/11/2001 transpired between the trailer's release and the movie's debut.

You should be able to handle something that seems offensive(Because you know movies arent real) As people living in a free world we have to come an understanding that somethings might offend us. If something seems like its going to be to much for you dont watch it. Most of these things cut dont seem that much worse than everything else in the movies featured.

I met a guy who worked on the special effects for Robocop who told me about how they had to cut that scene because it was so gruesome. He loved what they produced and they put a lot of hard work into it so he was pretty annoyed at the censorship. They also had to cut down the scene in the finale where Paul McCrane's character gets melted by toxic chemicals.

Is it just me or has it become all too common to show intestines spilling out and extreme violent gore these day's that would have been more taboo not long ago? For example, in the Netflix movie Outlaw King, it's common to have characters cut open with spilling out intestines without a camera flinching one bit.
