Tim burton movies are all horrifying in a way, but they're geniously made. I love how I can always find the humor and ironicy in all his dark themed films. The nightmare before christmas has been my favourite movie eversince I was like 7, and I adore all of burtons work, but if you're about to watch something made by him, especially with a child, know what to expect.

I must be screwed in the head I watched Willy Wonka, Matilda, Oz and Never ending story as a kid and never batted an eye over them, even watching this now does nothing. But the addiction/drug movie does look horrifying. (And going clear was just interesting too see how humans interact and can be so manipulated with religions)

I'd include Eraserhead, for its nightmarish dystopia and that baby; and also The Machinist for its unsettling flavor and for what was really eating away at our protagonist all along. Granted, these two movies could be considered horror films in a way-- so I don't even know if they count for this category.

Return to Oz was amazingly true to the L. Frank Baum books that followed Wirard of Oz, down to recreating the costumes in the amazing book illustrations. I didn't find them creepy or scary as a child, and was delighted to see my old friends brought to life in the film.

One word people
One. Word.
Coraline. just Coraline
No seriously, that movie used to give me nightmares
And the movie 9? It just made shit worse
Those two movies are basically the main reason why I kept wetting my bed as a kid due to nightmares

WHAT? no Compliance (2012) It's the MOST horrible film, and doesn't even have an action sequence, nor thriller suspense, but you STILL keep SCREAMING throughout the movie. Because, not only is it based on a real event, that real event happened SEVERAL times!

The scene with the horse in the Neverending Story really messed with me as a kid. Until i was 18 i never knew the horse survived and i never knew what movie it was and when i saw it as a kid i was utterly terrified of muddy areas and i never rode a horse.

The director made the mistake of showing the junkies pupils becoming dilated (enlarged) when in fact, opiates cause the constriction of the users pupils, hence the term youre eyes are pinpricks or you are busted for being high on dope.

Requiem For a Dream should be rated as a horror movie. That movie scared the hell out of me. Everybody starring in the movie horrified me! Anybody can become a drug addict, at any age and not even be aware of it until it's too damn late.
