Transformers: Age of Extinction. The title refers to the dinosaurs going extinct, and the trailer has a huge focus on the dinobots. that only showed up in the last 10 minutes or so of this ridiculously looong movie.
The Brood. The trailer is more or less all about some woman fighting of demoning children, or something (the brood in the title) Looks really great, until you realize the movie is very, very slow, and everything from the trailer takes place in the last 15 minutes or so. You might as well have an Alien-trailer (for the first movie) focusing entirely on Ripley fighting the alien. Screw the entire rest of the movie, I guess?
Cap America: Civil War. Here we clearly see Winter Soldier shooting into the sky, followed immediately with War Machine dropping to the ground, then to Tony Stark holding War Machine's lifeless body in his arms. Oh, noes! Except. WS did shoot into the sky, but at a very different place in the movie. And yes, Tony did hold WM's body in his arms briefly, before WM woke up. So not only did WS not Shoot WM, but WM wasn't anywhere close to dying, either.

Strange magic. The trailer is hugely misleading and why it failed miserably everywhere. Had it been marketed as a musical or atleast not made it seem SO CAMPY it would have thrived beyond a cult following. But Disney wanted nothing to do with it, and Lucas signed away the rights to it like he didn't care, so it flopped.
It's such a great film, yes it's a jukebox musical, but the way it retells midsummer night's dream and IMPROVES on it, it's wonderful

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I remember the trailer looking amazing and given how good the first movie turned out, I was disgusted when I saw Revenge.
It was the start of the decline of the franchise with it's unnecessarily over the top humour and annoying human characters. I remember leaving the cinema absolutely fuming.
Most modern comedies should be included on this list. Most of them aren't funny at all.

I dont think Sweeney Todd lied as much if shown people that it was more than just a musical. Yeah if you didnt know it was a musical it may have been misleading but my personal experience was worried it didnt put in all the songs or cut most the music when I saw the movie and saw they didnt eliminate all the good songs but instead based commercials around the life between the songs which was actually great marketing.

This missed the movie executive decision. it hit the box office at the peak of steven seagal career, his pic is in the cover of the movie, as a matter of fact, he was the only actor well known, with the exception of kurt Russell, in that movie. needless to say, Steven seagal is killed off the movie in the first 30min of the movie. funny enough that was the moment that his career started to go down.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson's replacement of Bryan Cranston as lead protagonist was the biggest upset in that movie. They did the same thing to him in John Carter. Replace an older, wiser more respected actor with some young buck just because they wish to reach a younger audience. Right, because Aaron Paul was why millions tuned in to see Breaking Bad.

Sadly I was a victim of Snow Dogs and Kangaroo jack. I remember my sister and I being so disapointed when none of those animals actually spoke throughout the film! I think Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 should have been on this list due to that scene with Voldemort grabbing Harrys thorax and asking him Why do you live?

What about that Spongebob Sponge out of water movie?
I was very disappointed when I watched the actual movie, and I thought most of the movie would be their CGI selves, but nope, half of it is everyone else in the sea with Spongebob and Plankton going back in time and doing other stuff. It was cheesy and pretty bad.
