The Truth About Dragon Ball Z Jasper: So many wrong in this video.
Thanks to Kazenshuu, a previous interview that Kozo Morishita did with Dragonbook has been translated into English. The chat, which can be read here, details the producers work on Dragon Ball GT. It was there Morishita was asked about how involved Toriyama was with the anime, and Morishita said the artist gave simple outlines to the shows team.
Simple plots made by Toei Animation such as they travel to these types of planets were handed over to sensei, and he drew new character drafts and image illustrations for kid Goku, Pan, Trunks, the spaceship, and other major characters, the producer said.
As for the show itself, Morishita said it was Toriyama who came up with its title. Thats right. We only received the title, and so werent sure what it meant, the producer revealed.
We thought maybe it was taken from GT cars, and got out our dictionaries. We interpreted it as Grand Touring, to convey the concept of a road movie type of plot.
Dragon Ball GT may be one of the franchises more controversial series, but Toriyama appears to have given his blessing to the series. The creator is credited as the author in the animes credits, and Toriyama even drew sketches for the show to promote its biggest moments. The artist hasnt ever come out to say what is and isnt canon for Dragon Ball, but Toriyama did lend his voice to Dragon Ball GT during its formation. Now, it is up for fans to decide whether theyll add it to their personal canon or not.

you did put many mistakes and misconceptions in this. which means that you actually research very poorly and do not double check information on its validity.
- it is not Dragonball z because there is nothing after this. it is dragonball Z because someone had mistaken a 2 for a Z and toriyama liked the sound of it. dumb, but thats the true story.
- toriyama did not plan to end it with the freeza saga either. in fact he never planned on ending it at all.
- toriyama not having any influence on GT is also false. he designed most characters places, gave a outline for the first half of the story and had to give his okay for the second half. his influence on GT is the same as it is now with dragonball super.
- GT ending because it was not popular is completely false as well. on the contrary it was very successfull and popular. they ended it because of budged problems and because of the shortcome of ideas.

Makes me lose respect for DBZ even more. inspiration from Journey to the west or Superman was pretty evident and i always hated that goku didn't have an original origin. but knowing that the arcs were made to mirror western success almost seems like cheating. that freeza saga was so good. it should have ended then tbh. maybe thats why japanese people don't really like the series as much as westerners. i mean the poll in japan about most popular anime ranked DBZ at 172 or something.

Its universe is very good. But its story telling, dialogues, etc were very bad. That's why it got so boring. It can only be enjoyed when you were a kid because we had less sense those days. And those who don't agree with me go and watch shows like breaking bad or movies like lord of the rings and star wars. I had even seen that many of those who liked dbz the most can't enjoy game of thrones and rick and morty.

Being here in Asia Ive been exposed to DBZ since I was a kid and for so long I got tired of watching DBZ and not interested in DBS anymore, I was wondering why the western still loves it so much. Now i know why, it was lately introduced to the west and DBZ is still hot thats why continuing with super is a very good hype

I own all the non-canon anime movies, including the original Dragon Ball movies, and both of the newer movies, Battle of Gods and Resurrection of F. However, I heard my nephew had to dry-heave after seeing Dragon Ball Evolutions, and since he's a big fan, that's a clear sign to steer clear of it.

I rememeber when battle of the gods came out, the line was out the door. there were so many people buying tickets to other movies then walking into the dbz movie and just standing there. people were sitting on stairs and the floor once they got in. I was one of them. It was so epic!

Solid video for the most part but some of your facts are off. Only one that really stands out is the bit about gt. Akira toryama did do some of the character designs for the show. You also neglected to mention the TV special where we meet vegetas brother and his wife.

Weirdly, DB GT was the best series continuation to the DBZ, while the recent creation the DBS is crap.
Story mode, naratives and overall lameness that is unappealing in an anime from the present.
Maybe it would have been nice in the early 90s, but not now

Dragon ball z is the best ever! No other show will ever come close, not even its continuation shows like GT or Super, it will never be improved and will never be surpass. I watch it all during the 90s before it aired on the US. It was my childhood.
