It could have Bruce Willis in it but not as a main character. Mia Jovovich could still be the main character but sort of a hardened version that spent the last years fighting other battles. Corban Dallas maybe was with her but got older and injured and just retired. Leeloo stops in to visit but eventually she maybe starts feeling old too. Corbon dies eventually and the storh van sort of go towards finding or discovering the next Leeloo. I mean im just spit balling while on the toilett.

Its a shame this movie didnt get any other content. Even a comic book series or something would of been great. This is one of my favorite movies of all time and Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich were amazing. Other than DieHard I think this may be my favorite Bruce Willis movie. Its a shame that Valerian and City of thousand planets was so mediocre, the 2 lead actors had no chemistry and didnt have the charisma to pull it off imo. Imagine if Bruce Willis and Jovovich were in the Valerian it could of been an awesome movie with 2 better leads. Delivigne and Dane Deehan are not bad actors but these roles just didnt suit them. PLease give me any sort of Fifth Element content a book, an animated movie, a short story. ANYTHING!

While I do agree, the movie does seem complete at the Ending, I would have loved to see a Sequel happen (but not now after so many years. The age gap would just be too much. And replacing the actors is a BIG No-No)
However, the flop of the movie had more to do with the Lack of Advertising. I've seen so many people watch The 5th Element for the very 1st time and ask, Why have I never heard of this movie before until now! It's simply a Great movie, that sadly never got the Advertising needed that it deserved!

I am one of those who have probably watched this movie around 20 times or more. It just never disappoints. The concept of the film, the story, all of it, was just awesome. For me, forget about a sequel. Just remake it better, then do a sequel off of that. There are many possibilities in remaking it. You could get rid of the silliness and just make it serious. Same concept, just without the silly. Then move forward with the trilogy. You could also make it into a Netflix series. Now that would be great!

His movies aren't bad. His movies are legendary. I think the problem is his movies are ahead of what audiences understand. Once the see them and get time to digest them people realize what a gold mine of visuals and stories his kovi3s are. Anything he makes I'll watch. I all the negative critiques of Valerian and the city of a thousand planets made me want to see it even more. Just like I thought that movie was awesome. I wish he'd make a sequel. I'm going to watch it again now

Valerian was bland, no matter how pretty the effects were. It was as empty as The last Jedi.
The Fifth Element featured Willis, Jovovich and especially Gary Oldman at their absolute best.
A sequel could still be made, but it would require other actors to push the story forward.
The Fifth Element will always be one of my favorite movies, so I'm not too keen on seeing it suffer like the Star Wars series. Sometimes a masterpiece should be allowed to stand alone.

Would love to see follow ups series sequeal of this story line or others in the same worlds. Others i feel this way about. jupiter asscending, guardians of the galaxia( forgive spelling please) 1 and 2. More of these please. Hudson Hawk. These movies have a modern day fairy tale feel. We need more of these much more.

Netflix just added The Fifth Element. And Im watching it as I watch this video about why it never got a sequel. The movie is a cult classic and I absolutely love it. Have watched it literally like a hundred times. But I think the time to make the sequel was probably like 7-8 years ago when Jovovich and Willis still looked good. Now over 20 years later, I think too much time as passed.

On the subject of sequels, they are a fairly modern phenomenon. It really is not necessary to have a sequel to have a successful film.
Some of the best films made have not had sequels - Apocalypse Now, Stalker, Barry Lyndon to name a few never had sequels made of them.
