RDJ should've won the Oscar for his performance as Charlie Chaplin back in '93 however the award went to Al Pacino for Scent of a Woman instead.
Although I love RDJ in the Iron Man franchise I still feel that Chaplin was Downey's crowning acting achievement.
I honestly think if RDJ does end up winning an Oscar for Iron Man it'll be given to him based more on the cumulative sum of his career at this point. Kinda like how Peter Jackson's Return of The King won 11 Oscars but everyone knew the wins were really for the entire LOTR trilogy, not just that final entry.

Iron man is not his best job and its not near of his climax as an actor. Chaplin, wonder boys, zodiac (where he already worked with Ruffalo. There are many movies where you can see him shine and in the 90s he was well respected even though he had his issues. Im sick of people trying to re write his story when he was already a huge star before Iron Man. Yes, he had his up and downs in his personal life, but just like any other celebrity. Besides, his comeback was when Elton John called him for a music video, not Iron Man.

One of the biggest issues with many superhero movies is the screen time split between the character and their hero mode can be very imbalanced from the viewpoint of entertainment. This can be due to writing, directing and the actor themselves. For instance I enjoy Tony Stark time as much as I enjoy IronMan time. But when it comes to Batman and Superman for example we all crave more suited up time then listening to Bruce Wayne or Clark Kent tripping over bad dialogue.

I believed Robert Downey Jr. is an iconic actor he even surpassed when it comes to acting and being famous among his contemporary 80s actors the likes of Tom Cruise, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore and the likes. I believed despite of the bad public news about him he was able to conquer the limelight back and became more successful!

Iron man the riskiest film! Yeah right, the MCU already had a built in following when the first iron man movie came out. Rdj was lucky he got it based on his identically look to the original character of Tony Stark. Which is the main requirement Marvel uses before choosing an actor, to physically look a lot like the comic book character.

its just me but hes name is not memorizable. i watch iron man, avengers. etc. but still i always forgot his name. the same as harry potter. maybe because when i see him the first come to my mind is. its iron man. so i didnt care that much to his real name anymore. i just identifying him as iron man. because that he is more known for.

thanks for the Bio, My girlfriend enjoys the Charictors that is RDJ. Myself im olden to Marvel. And new to this MCU which means forget what ever you thought you knew about the Charictors/Heros, Villans I will just wait until i get it for free. As for Downy Im Glad to see the young man became a roll model for the young.

I don't even remember RDJ being out of the acting/movie world for that long? Ever since the 1980s he's had a pretty steady career. He's had such a range of roles- even before Iron Man- with Chaplin, etc. My favorite movie of his is still Less than Zero. (and Iron Man at least in the Top 5.
