My cousin Al who died at Que Son in 1967 introduced me to Marvel comics when they first came out. His favorite character was the Incredible Hulk. I remember Bedlam at the Baxter Building and The Coming of Galactus both of which I agree would have to be on any list of the greatest comics. Superheroes getting married was virtually unheard of in comics before Stan. They always had Lois and Clark- Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor sorts of relationships that never wanted to change the formula from high school dating stuff except in safely out of continuity stories about somebody having a dream or something. However none of the Spiderman stories you picked really seemed very significant or original to me. Spiderman was never one of my personal favorite comics so I may be biased but having Peter Parker graduate high school and start college around the same time as most of the Baby Boomers did was actually a lot more original than any of the stories you mentioned. I mean like Superboy was going to high school for several decades. Another Spiderman story more significant was the first reference to drug addiction in comics back in the Sixties which actually caused the whole Comics Code to be revised for the first time since it was created back in the 1940's, Another iconic comic of Stan's was the reintroduction of Captain America when the Avengers found him in an iceberg where he'd been frozen in after the death of Bucky Barnes. Kid Sidekicks like Robin or Supergirl had never died in any comic before. Stan of course worked with Frank Capra and Ronald Reagan making Army training films during WW2 but Jack Kirby was in Patton's Third Army in the Battle of the Bulge as well as the original artist of Captain America and I've always viewed the 1960's Steve Rogers as Stan's personal view of Jack Kirby actually fighting Nazis and liberating Nazi Death Camps in real life. Coming out at a time when Americans were dying in Vietnam Captain America was deeply significant to all the readers like me who had people close to them killed in action. The introduction of the Black Panther, the first African American superhero, in the Fantastic Four was of course a watershed moment in the Civil Rights movement. Stan's comics also were fairly original in having all sort of pop culture references to real people and events which normally only happened in comics if a celebrity like Bob Hope or Jerry Lewis licensed the use of their image. Real life cultural events were almost always presented in a very fictionalized form without any specifics that could date the comic or raise something controversial other than the many cameos Jack Kennedy made in Superman comics before his assassination. Stan dropped real life names all over the place which is one of the main reasons his comics seemed a lot, more realistic than any other comics of the time. I used to write letters to Marvel Comics all the time, some of which actually got published in them so I'm certainly a big fan of Stan Lee and his works. He was definitely a big influence on me and no doubt will be on people for a long time to come one way or another.

Change the title to Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko's 10 greatest comics. Educate yourselves. Stan lee stole credit from kirby and ditko, did not properly financially compensate them for their creations and took creative control away from them preventing storylines they made for their characters from being told. Stan the conman is what i call him. He painted himself as a fun loving, lovable grandpa that is having a good timr and made comic books for everyone to enjoy but he is a greedy conman. Getting more for doing less is the definition of a conman. RIP Ditko and Kirby. Look up their thoughts on the matter if you disagree with me.

Stan Lee and Steve Ditko's work has definitely touched my life immediately early, if I hadn't watched the Animated Series of Spider-Man, the one with the catchy Spider-Man tune the person I would be today would be all the bit less than the person I am now. Aligning myself with Spider-Man early in life put me on the right path from the start as it did I'm sure for many others. I'm eternally grateful and I pray to continue the mission of using the power that I have with the greatest amount of responsibility I can muster. They and his wife definitely deserve a good rest Above.

All I get from this is We (the United States) were so lucky to forget and forgive vs other nations. Basically it's just America vs Japan with comics with Japan winning. Winning in the categorys of Comics + Animation & merchandise with America only winning with the MCU (excluding other Disney properties for obvious reasons.

RIP Stan Lee. A well blessed comic writer and artist that changed MARVEL and comics forever, has been in tons of marvel film cameos and is loved by all. If there was no Stan Lee, marvel would not have been this popular, this great, this loving. Stan Lee defied marvel history.
RIP Stan Lee 1922-2018 excelsior

Thanks for including FF #57, which I personally consider the single greatest comic in terms of art and story ever produced by Lee-Kirby and I had Stan sign the cover at the 2014 Chicago Comic Con. I scared him with my enthusiasm, but it all worked out.
