The Real Reason Edward Norton Was Fired From The MCU Grand: Ed Norton is THE best Hulk, hands down. I always loved the juxtaposition of Bruce being this scrawny guy and Hulk being a force of nature and Ed captured that beautifully. He also created a sense of anxiety and depression. Each word that he spoke sounded like a man who's lost his will to live. The Incredible Hulk movie is imo one of the best Marvel films to date. It was dark because it had to be dark, some heroes, especially the Hulk, have to be dark because there is very little to be happy about from Bruce's perspective. I loved seeing Hulk be implemented in 'the real world'. How would Bruce tame this beast? I loved how they illustrated Bruce trying to control this monster by attending classes to defend himself without turning green. How to better control his heart rate when in a stressful situation. Are there issues? Sure. What film doesn't have issues. When Mark made his debut in Avengers back in 2012, all of that was lost. He was just another quirky Marvel-esque character, nothing to differentiate him from the rest. Maybe it's not so much the actor, but the treatment of the Hulk. They have really dishonored the Hulk in these movies and no one seems to bring it up because of all the hype, justifiably so. But the MCU is not flawless, not by a long shot.

To be honest, Ruffalo did not 'ruin' the Hulk. He was just the guy who followed orders and the script without that much incident compared to Norton. We all have preferences for the Hulk's actor and I also think Norton is a wasted opportunity. However, I'm more curious about the changes Norton wanted for the script about the Hulk's character. The solo movie aside, Hulk's only satisfying Ruffalo run was during the first Avengers movie. From Age of Ultron to Infinity War we get to see a big green punching bag and in Endgame he was almost cool but became so wimpy he skipped out of the final fight scene. To me, Norton probably saw this coming and wanted to make the Hulk better. Don't get me wrong, Feige did great with the MCU as a whole, but he really did let his directors trample the Hulk who is supposed to be an important member of the Avengers in the MCU. See it's the script writers and the directors who gave us a 'lacking' portayal of the Hulk, not Mark Ruffalo. It makes you think even more about what could've been if Ed Norton was still hanging around.

Edward Norton is one of the best actors! I really hate the way they described the tags in this video Have you wondered about the real reason Edward Norton was fired from the MCU? You might think you know: Edward Norton is a jerk. Edward Norton is moody. Edward Norton is difficult to work with. No one likes Edward Norton. Edward Norton writes his own dialogue. Well, those are all true, but theres a few other things at work here than just all Edward Nortons fault! Love him and I'd be pissed with Marvel as well, seeing as though they keep stirring the pot referring to him indirectly to this day.

Ways in which this is pure BS:
Used his A-clout status to re-edit American History X - it was his 5th movie.
He is a guy who made American History X, Fight Club, 25th Hour and Birdman. These sort of guys don't do Marvel Universe shite. He wanted to make a Hulk movie like Nolan's Batmans - with depth. Instead the studio wanted to do some silly action flick for the brain dead. Let's face it, non of the actors in the Marvel Universe is A class, maybe apart from Ruffalo.

Did u actually call Hulk one of the most successful franchises? I guess back in the 70 and 80s.
Norton's ideas sounded good. Norton sounds like he was trying to make things sound good by talking about movies he would have missed like Birdman I think the money would have been better with MCU and there may have been a second Hulk with the Leader in it. I believe he was a fan of the Hulk so that makes him better also.

We can't disagree the fact that incredible hulk was actually one of the best movies in MCU, maybe MCU didn't wanted hulk to be the main character. It would have been a better version because then fans would have different favourite character. Now everyone just loves IRON MAN, Dr. strange and thor. Hulk is a very powerful character and need more intense actor more like norton and not like mark

5: 24 Great statement because none of the marvel movies have been close to as good as any of Christopher Nolans Batman movies but. Thats not Edwards Motivation and we know that because of what he did with American History X, he just wants to control the perspective of his character and gain more screen time for himself. Egotistical!

Personally, I thought Edward Norton was the best Hulk, I _loved_ his version. _But_ I don't think he would have made a good _Avenger. _ Norton gave Banner that serious solitude that Bill Bixby did in the series, he was not meant to be a team player.
Mark Ruffalo's Hulk is lighter, comical, & he fits in with the Avengers.

Marvel really hates stand alone movies, man I am actually with Norton on this one.
Norton actually had a vision for hulk, unlike Marvel where we have Professor hulk now. Marks Hulk is a 2 year old dumb hulk. No character development or story arc, out of nowhere we now have a shitty Professor Hulk Storyline.

When I first heard that Norton was being replaced by Mark Ruffalo I was pretty upset. I've always been a big Edward Norton fan and had never heard of Mark. But after seeing the Avengers I was impressed. Now I couldn't imagine anyone else playing Banner/Hulk. I hope he keeps doing it for many more years.
