Velvet Buzzsaw Ending Explained swearwords: art killing them should have been the killers art only not all art as a medium for where the evil could get through i think thats where this film didn't get to that sublime point all art was used so the focus of the evil artist was lost a little that and there wasn't nearly enough artists getting killed in inventive ways - inventive way 1 death by monkey wrench ironic also from the evil artists art - cool - inventive way 2 - death by weird silver orb; gory satisfying overall a entertaining bit but wasn't the evil artists art - inventive way 3 - death by chemical poisoning via possessed painting; damn awesome to watch but again not the evil artists paintings used inventive way 4 - hobo man funny kind of ironic that he gets killed by a representation of destitution considering morph determines other peoples wealth via opinion but again not by the evil artists art. So yeah sort of missed the boat with the focus of the evil artist also should have included at least 3 more murders all of which are deaths by the evil artists art itself

People don't think this is scary? lol Then I guess there truly are no more scary movies, I just as many chills from this movie as I got from the last season of AHS I watched (Cult. Of course I felt their last season was more satirical comedy as well as much as horror. I liked Velvet Buzzsaw except the fact that the ending was too dead to me lol. It felt so unfinished Idk if that was the point. As far as the characters being unlikable that too is shocking to me. Overall they were annoying at best, but you must be very young or sheltered to truly dislike these people for as little as they showed about them. My neighbors are worse people than this and I wouldn't take joy out of watching them die in one of these ways. smh I probably would not watch Velvet Buzzsaw again but then that's most horror movies to me. Once you know what to expect the fun jump you get is over.

John Malkovich's character arc doesn't end with alcoholism. Rhodora suggested him to find a place where he can do some good for him, stopping production until he has found something that puts him at ease. And during the credits what do we see? It's John Malkovich ecstatically carving lines in the sand, as the waves slowly wash over them. He survives the movie cause he is making art for himself, far away from the commercialism and the emptiness of all the characters around him.

I watched this last night. I was expecting Coco to be somehow connected to Dease or the supernatural element and the deaths.
It was spooky how the art that redora turned over exactly depicted her death
As for Dease, I hope they make a sequel or prequel with John Malcovichs character as he figures out what gave power to Dease's paintings.
The soundtrack was amazing and Jake, played his role really well

I thought the movie was a fun watch. I think it's ridiculous to say the characters should be hated for being greedy or sell-outs. Anyone who wants to survive has to do this on some level. Especially selling out. I don't know one person who has survived past 20 years and retained their 100% genuine-selves at all times and been able to maintain a job, friends, etc. Real life fools.

Disappointed with this movie. no closure, no explanation, nothing. Starts off with the evil painting power killing off people one by one and nothing gets resolved at the end. Everyone is as clueless as in the beginning. What was the pointing of watching it. It's like Final destination but everyone just dies, they dont understand anything or are aware of anything, the end.

The trailer looked great! The film was a little drawn out and boring. Similar to birdbox. It would seem Netflix (along with many others) have a great team putting their trailers together. Regardless, it wasn't Jake's best obscure role. nightcrawler was pretty good though and that one he did where he meets his 'double'. the title escapes me though

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and I'll watch it again. I like that the story took place in a setting like the high class art world because it was deferential and refreshing. I'm glad that it had a supernatural twist instead of it being just characters having mental breakdowns and it being all in their mind.

Not saying Gilroy stole this, but in the novel Predestined, an out of print inspiration of The Great Gatsby that Fitzgerald admired personally, the protagonist Felixs father is revealed to be a homeless, alcoholic artist who scrawls art in the dirt with his fingers and quickly erases it.

I thought the movie would have some twist where Cocco was Deases granddaughter or something, given every time she interacts with someone or is hired by someone new they are the next person to die, and she is the first one to stumble on the bodies. but nothing came of that theory.
