Emilia Clarke's Frustration With GoT's Ending Makes Sense Now TheMrPangloss: The victim of the shortfalls of the writers including the respected Author was the storyline which changed from subtle to drastic. The biggest singular victim was Danaerys Targaryen's person and character which was literally and figuratively butchered. She was a beloved character and a key character along with John Snow, Tyrion Lannister and the sisters Stark. Danaerys was, according to the writers predicted to become a villain in hindsight as she always was a villain in a sense. And yet there was nothing exceptional in her in that sense in the context of Westeros - except for the King's Landing bloodbath which was a deed clearly against her nature (this must be outruled as her deed because its madness is as if pasted as something external on her greatly benevolent character appealing to her mad father. And, as to villainy in general in Westeros, even the goodie Ned Stark executed the man who tried to tell him about White Walkers, then also Red Queen persuaded Stannis to murder his own daughter. Randall Tarly's execution did not differ from Mance's execution by Stannis, not to mention that Olenna Tyler poisoned Joffry (we did not like Joffry but it was a crime, not to mention all the disgusting deeds made by Tywin terrorising the Riverlands with his army and the Mountain and his daughter Cersei murdering late Robert's bastard children and blowing up the Great Sept by wildfire. Why is it that Danaerys was supposed to play much more fair than anybody else - and she did to her own disadvantage for a long time? The same rules of honor bound her like any high Noble person in Westeros and playing fair did not help her - and actually playing fair was her nature. She yoked her dragons into captivity when Drogon had burned alive a herd's daughter. That she snapped at King's Landing starting to burn alive all moving in the streets did not make any sense - it was like something that had been pasted onto her character which was typically symphathizing the poor and wretched. This was just too simple and hasty way to end the story - and storywise it was too simplistic and too drastic for she was, even though not very merciful with her enemies, after all more complex a character and also her relationships with the others were not following that simplistic patterns - there was often an inner conflict, yes, but it did mostly did not take violent forms (compare to the slightly villainous Stannis and Robert, then the big villains of Cersei and Tywin, and obviously the monsters of Joffry and Ramsay. And frankly, it is amazing how ungrateful the others were after her decisive help and huge sacrifices for the better in the battle of Winterfell, as if having used her and her resources as long as she was useful and then just discarding her and giving her no credit of what happened. It is as if the writers, including the Author, had a key character in a story and did not handle the situation as to how deal with a key character - she could have been given a chance to become an ordinary human being building a better word having her title, her Dragon and the royal Targaryen line gone as insignificant. She could have grown as a character like Jaime after losing his sword hand. Then is must be pointed out that she was significant as a person and she therefore did not deserve any character assassination nor the eventual execution.

Some quick notes for the writers if they ever redo or consider redoing the season: (each line isnt related to the previous:
Danys descend into madness would have been accepted if she didnt go against her principles - should have torched the building with the Lannisters inside instead of killing innocents. Her war wasnt against the public and she even says this. Dont change her principles just because you want to manipulate the plot for the person you like to end up on top.
Jon killing Dany shouldnt have been out of fear of her but fear of his sisters. Danys fear should have been held true in which Arya and Sansa push their brother to his limits of stating his claim to the throne. After Dany destroys Kingslanding, he would be desperate in proving his worth to his family (or even prove that hes still a Stark) / not wanting to disappoint his sisters (this change being abrupt would pair well with Danys abrupt mental state change instead of it being stand alone and obvious) and he kills her because of this.
Even though I hate Cersei, she was such a large villainous character that she deserved a larger death, likely one thats during the fight with Dany (or even by Sansa or Tyrions hand, Jaime would be way too predictable - much like this season. Maybe shes struck in the chest with one of the spears meant for Drogon or shes burnt alive after saving Jaime from the flame rather than dying helplessly (even though her story arc is literally about her accepting herself and proving shes not helpless) Jaime should have gone back to Brienne after his sister risked her life to save him. Brienne would probably not forgive him for going back to her but would get his wits back to him as she previously has. Jaime then goes on to prove his change by fighting alongside his men in arms rather than the previous state of being above them.
Drogon should have killed Jon instead of melting the throne because he knew he killed his mother. Would have been a satisfying ending after all this turmoil if he did.
Arya isnt important even though she killed the Night King apparently to these writers? Dont have her do something so big and then ignore her character in the final few episodes. Have her rise because she was able to defeat him - become a member of the troops or even the queens guard for her sister instead.
And dont completely ignore plot points you literally set up last season

Ofc the actors with a brain can only be totally disappointed how the whole S8/end of the show was written. it s total nonsense because of the rushed ending and all the plot holes; lack of smart moves/strategic decisions (where they are supposed to have gathered the most seasoned warriors left in westeros, they can t come up with any decent plan for both batlles vs the undead and Cersei // Cersei having Dany & her advisors + drogon on the ground in range of X scorpions and her army in front of KL. and what does she do: just kill Missandei to piss off Dany? really? REALLY)
What s even worst is that people like Sophie Turner is now critizing the whole community raging against these 2 dumb writers who can t write without GRRM writing/behind them.
Sorry to dissapoint you Sophie, but watch again the whole serie (oh wait you were part of it, you should know) and you might grasp how shitty S8 was compared to the rest of the show. and then ask yourself why? Again not about how it ends, not about how it looks, just about how poor the scripting of it is. 80% of the scenes make no sense, has no consitency and seems to come from nowhere just to rush to the ending decided.
If some people are such fans that they are blinded by their fandom and can't activate their braincells and critical mind. well too bad for them

When Drogon took her and left. l felt that. l was just like yes baby D, take your mama home. She has suffered enough l feel like Missandei, her kids, Jorah and Grey warm where her only true lovers. Jon has just brought destruction in her lire and he finished his work by killing her. What a shame. he could have stopped her by many ways (showing her some love, some real love for exemple or just be a man for once) before she completely turn out but he absolutely did nothing. She should have never trust them all. She should have took the throne before going north. Tyrion, Jon, Varys, the northerners. They didn't really love her. Everybody used her and she has been there for all of them when they needed it. But when it came to her turn, they all betraded her because she wasn't going their way. Dany was a great woman, and in this season, they crushed a wonderfull Character. They are all responsible for what she became. At this point, l just feel like she should have never left meereen. like the starks shouldn't have left winterfell. Even Cercei got a better ending. it's soo disappointing.
And Sansa getting exactly what she has always wanted just soo easely? Bruuh. at least l can apreciate the fact that she is queen herself and not just the king's wife. Plus her last scene was gorgeous.

I cannot voice my disappointment enough with a such a sh&ty ending, seriously, that was the best they could do! all the time they were hinting on Jon's true identity and how he was the rightful heir to the throne, nothing came of that. Arya and all the practice she did in the art of fighting, for what, nothing. Cersei and all her greatness, to die the way she did alongside Jaime so belittled! not even a face to face war between her and Danny, or even a dramatic glorious death like the way she ruled, really! What about Jon and him being abolished to the wall, what the heck is that all about? I would have loved it if Arya was given the throne, or at least Sansa, anyone would have been better than Bran. What a terrible ending to such a great show, everything that has been building up from season 1 to 7 was for nothing, nothing made sense in the end. Even the way Khaleesi was killed at the end, terrible, and to top it all off, after Jon killed her, why not have the dragon burn Jon after melting the iron throne, that would have been so much more powerful. I am extremely disappointed with it, they ruined a beautiful masterpiece with such a terrible ending, shame!

What a load of delusional nonsense, people only want to remember Daenerys good side BUT at the same time just totally IGNORE & DISMISS all the terrible blood thirsty crimes Daenerys committed during the whole series which cumulated in her burning innocent people to death. Or how many times she wanted to burn everything down but had to be repeatedly talked out of it by Tyrion & others. So it wasnt abrupt at all, it was in her nature & each season her wrath increased, even after murdering everyone & achieving being Queen of the 7 kingdoms she then stated there were other worlds to conquer hence why John killed her because he knew like Tyrion that she wouldnt stop. If people expected a fairy tale ending for Daenerys then they clearly have no clue about her character or any respect for the author George-R-R-Martin who decided the ending for her. If you want a storybook happy ending then stick to watching Disney movies instead!

The Mad Queen thing is what people who really weren't paying attention to Dany's story came up with to explain what happened to King's Landing. Now go back to Season 1 and start over. It's all there for us to see. She didn't suddenly change in the final season, she's exactly the same Queen Daenerys that she's always been. We were just cheering her on the whole time because the bad people deserved it. She's has ALWAYS had anger management issues. She's ALWAYS had a bit of a god complex. She's ALWAYS been ruthless. But we didn't care because she was a bad ass, too. She was a beautiful, often sweet girl who treated her friends very well and never balked at killing her enemies, so we gave her a pass. We wanted her to get what she deserved and unfortunately, she did.

Aryan flew into the scene from nowhere to hold the Night King (when she was clearly terrified in the previous scenes, Aryan killed the Night King in one go, Arya gave up her plan to kill Cersei because she was afraid to die, Arya survive and unharmed and saw this beautiful white horse in the ruins when the whole city was burnt to the ground, Arya appeared right next to Jon Snow after he talked with Dany, Aryan voted her brother to be the King and left to the west. This character has never been my favourite as it always feels like the writer wants to make an angry teenage girl a superhero. But dude, this season is another level of superhero-making.

Gets old fast, needs to not be in our entertainment and video games. Just ask battlefield how that worked out for them!

One of the dumbest endings ever! The man who told and proved the army of the dead was real and even though he didnt kill the ice king, he saved the world from the army of the dead and his reward was to be exiled to the end of the earth? Sansa who hid when the war against the dead was happening, hides in the basement and she becomes queen of the north? The midget who tells john what needs to be done, that he has to kill the queen, lives and becomes one of the high councilors? Like I said this ending sucked balls!
