Joe Russo Makes Bold Statement About RDJ
video description
1) The MCU is the most layered, deep, all-encompassing pieces of cinema writing in all of human history. It has amazing effects, but is unarguably NOT driven by them. The writing, acting, and cinematography is all at the absolute pinnacle of possibility within the content that it is portraying. This enterprise is in a league of its own entirely among today's popular action movies, and should be ranked, while certainly not AT the top, among the greatest cinematic writings of our generation--all genres included. How well all parties involved in creating the MCU have done at taking way too much information, and still sacrificing little to no depth in writing this story for us to laugh and cry to.
2) The depth of performance of Robert Downey Jr. in these films, culminating in HIS decision to refuse to deliver the lines written for him while he is dying (after I am Ironman, is unquestionably deserving of his industry's highest honor. Consider the performances of Tom Hanks in his back-to-back wins from 'Philadelphia' and 'Forrest Gump', Colin Firth's King George, or Daniel Day-Lewis' Lincoln. What voters fail to consider is that actors should bring everything they are and WHAT IS APPROPRIATE to the table for any film. Before you comment that Ironman does not have the depth of the aforementioned examples, remember that this is a comic book character that Downey elevated; that Downey gave the depth it has today. This isn't a character who deals with our real-life issues such as retardation or leading a country from slavery to freedom. And yet there is no denying that Ironman, thanks to Robery Downey Jr, possesses similar on screen depth anyway. If this film aired in 2000, I would have a tough time choosing between Russell Crowe and Roberty Downey Jr. And 'Gladiator' was WHOLLY focused on our favorite Roman general.
And might I end by suggesting that this is what filmmakers envisioned when the world used to pay 5 cents each week to go back to the theater to see the next chapter of a movie unfold. The MCU hasn't ruined cinema. Rather, these chapters have taken us back to the roots of American movie-making.

One thing people tend to either forget, glance over or not consider the talent required to, RDJ 100% deserves an Oscar if for no other reason than for his performances inside the Iron Man mask. I've been saying it since Age of Ultron in the scene where he fights Hulk in the Hulk Buster. The way he acts inside that helmet, RDJ's reality and margine for error is staggeringly small. There is no room for mistakes and if he doesn't appear to be in that helmet, in that suit, it's all over. But he does it so convincingly you never second guess what's really going on. You know he's in that helmet, there is no doubt. Couple that with the fact that most of the performances are done with the help of green screens, CGI suits and the like and you start to realize, acting in an environment that isn't actually there at all takes some serious acting chops.

I disagree with the Russos on popular movies being prejudiced against, Popular movies nowadays arn't cinematic masterpieces like 3 billboards or the favorite to name a few.
Popular movies now, even though some of them are great, are no where near the level of the godfather, most likely to do with the restrictions given by producers and investors and being restricted so that it remains in the cinematic universe.
Popular movies nowadays arn't as good as popular movies before because the audiences of now want something completely different and more digestible then before.

Bold statement?
Russo is not brave enough about the FACTS as to why the Avenger let Tony and Nat remain dead in the end!
Gamora and Tanos manage to appear in the final battle because of time travel. They're from a different time line. ( Past version ) actually not just those 2 but also Nebula and Tanos entire army.
But after the final battle, the Avenger didn't get a past version of tony and Nat.
Is it hard to travel back 1 day before Tony and Nat die, get them and then take them to the main MCU time line?

As much credit as RDJ deserves and he deserves a BOAT LOAD, it wasn't him. It was the character and the ark and the journey of the character that built the foundation of the MCU around the decent Thor films, good Cap films and fun Guardians films. The I'M films had a lot of naff stuff but the overall story of Tony Stark is what has built and maintained this franchise whilst DC failed to capitalise on Batman and Wonder Woman to build their own extended universe. DC looking hella like MySpace to Facebook atm.

RDJ's work astounds me. He took what could have been something silly and made it phenomenal, I couldn't wait to see the next film. I love his voice, it is truly unique and reflective of the small intricate changes his makes to this character. His facial expressions are so in depth and captivating. And aside from his professional awesomeness, he succeeded in his personal life too. Thank you for inspiring me when I thought I had nothing left to give. ( I do hope Iron man is'nt done yet.

The unfortunate reality about the Oscars is that it's all about kissing the right amount of ass. Think about it. Leo didn't get one for all of his amazing performances. Samuel l Jackson still doesn't have one and the list keeps going. If you don't deal in Hollywood politics they will snub you until there is a public outcry like with DiCaprio. It's crazy, but the evidence is there. Hell even Denzel Washington, arguably one of the best of all time didn't get one until he did Training Day.

Oscars are given to actors who produce outstanding performances in their movie. RDJ has done just that, his performance as Tony Stark is so good that he's blurred the line between what is RDJ and what is Stark, he did more than make the role his own, he poured himself into the character and now people can't tell what is RDJ and what is Tony Stark. It's time to stop overlooking brilliant performances simply because they happen in Superhero movies.

I thought RDJ Have gotten an Oscar for these Marvel movie performances by now? If it wasn't for RDJ There Probably (If Not Definitely) would NOT Have been Any Avengers movie(s) or Iron Man 2 and 3! Judging by how poorly Hulk did in Sales previously (even though I'm a Huge Hulk Movies Fan. Let alone his Importance, Relevance and major/lead roles in all these movies.
So, In My King Tchala Voice/Mode: Get That Man His Oscar!

I think the reason RDJ POURED HIS HEART AND SOUL into the Tony Stark character is because he was given a second shot at acting and thus he is now a true inspiration and living embodiment of the character. Honestly his portrayal of Stark is pretty much the ultimate goal for many engineers and many people in STEM, including myself, aside from Elon Musk (who is as close as we get to a real Toby Stark)
