Bruce Lee's Daughter Has Harsh Words For Tarantino's New Film
video description
In two Ip Man films, Bruce Lee was portrayed as a show-off and arrogant guy. Once as a little boy and another time when he had kicked Ip Man's cigarettes in the air. And? Did anyone get upset? The only difference is that in the Ip Man films Bruce was portrayed as a legend, who of course only became a myth due to the much larger legend Ip Man. Bruce Lee said himself that Ali had killed him. So, a real historical person should have defeated him, but not a fictional one? Fans disagree. But Bruce Lee's daughter would have had no problem if Bruce had been defeated in Tarantino's film. What bothered her was the arrogance with which her father was portrayed. Well, that's what it says in her mother's Bruce Lee biography.
I would suggest: Don't take everything so seriously.

He also didnt make those WAH! sounds when fighting in real life. That was the first thing that offended me.
Def Quentin's 2nd to worst film(that double feature one wasnt all that) & I swear just a few edits here & there & it wouldve been a much better film. Still not a bad film & waaay more entertaining than most everyone else.
The film felt kinda of rushed & not fully thought out & the flashbacks got confusing & only made sense like my 2nd time watching.
I had real high hopes for this film but was let down because I expect only masterpieces from Tarantino(I guess he finally lost his spark. but the actors pretty much all did their roles well. Leo was pretty damn funny lol.

It's supposed to be a comedy she must be real fun at parties. Bruce Lee was talented yes. Did people give him a hard time initially? Yes. BUT it was short lived. He became a super star. Stop making this movie about race.
What it did is highlight the cult like atmosphere around Bruce and all people are doing is providing the point. While Bruce was extremely impressive he did not have any fights recorded BUT one vague account. All we know for sure is he was fast, strong, cocky, a good actor and a good dad. That's about it. Everything else is speculation at best.

I'm not one of those guys who overrates or deifies Bruce Lee. But Tarantino's portrayal was a cheap shot. Cowardly, posthumous. And fictional. Yeah, Bruce Lee was imperfect, he was no saint, he was human. But his daughter nailed it by observing that Lee was the only character pilloried. and the only non-white character. And safely pilloried, because he's dead. Whereas Tarantino manufactures an entirely fictional character, a supposed stunt man played by Hollywood's Latest Golden Boy (HLGB) who is fictionally made out to be the hero. How disgusting.

Everyone knows Bruce Lee is a badass and would have kicked the crap out of anyone but I also laughed when I saw it in the theater and know that it was just satire and I don't think that Quentin Tarantino meant any disrespect to Bruce Lee as he loves kung fu movies and made Kill Bill which was an amazing kung fu movie oh, but I can also understand Shannon feelings and why she got triggered I just hope she realize it was satire and not disrespect as Bruce Lee was just an amazing soul

Its her meal ticket and father. I understand. That being said, it was a hilarious scene. Its all spaghetti western. Like they used to set up movies where a guy would shoot the hats off of 5 people and the shoot the belt buckle off a guy and his pants would fall down, showing how great of a shot he was. It was only to show how insanely tough this character is. I dont think any less of Lee because of this scene.

Quentin Tarantino should recreate the film. He should change the element of the script. He shouldn't make a scene where Bruce Lee is disrespected by other people and gets destroyed. He should make Bruce Lee more powerful and unbeatable. They should show more scenes of Bruce Lee. It will be an advantage to this portrayal and it will widen the mass audience.

Shannon is right. Nowadays Hollywood golden boys cannot even imagine what Lee went through back in the 1960s. And everybody knows that Lee revolutionized not only martial arts movies, but martial arts themselves. What's worse, Lee is not here to answer to modern day big mouths. All of them would be silent like fish if he was still alive.

I have to agree with Bruce's daughter. He could depict Cliff as a bad ass without mocking Bruce Lee. It's really weird because he went to great lengths to ensure that everyone else that was real was depicted with respect. It's a great movie though and it wouldn't be wise for people that admire Bruce to not see it because of that.

Tarantino himself is actually a huge Bruce Lee fan. Even by dressing up Uma Thurman in yellow Bruce Lee suit in Kill Bill Vol. 1 he pays his respect to Lee. No hard feeling, Once upon a time in Hollywood is just another satirical, unorthodox Tarantino film, I liked it. No one argues Bruce Lees greatness.
