It is more disrespectful to not give the fans a good ending. It was hard to mess up GoT. All you had to do is give the audience the expected ending that was foreshadowed. The lord of light, the prophecy of Jon Snow, Jon becoming the King. It was obvious and they went way out of their way to be surprising. I'm surprised, too. You fed it up. All the writers had to do was to KEEP expectations of the audience, not subvert it. Even as sloppy and rushed writers, it makes sense to just use the baseline expectation, the audience wouldn't have better or worse reactions to it. The expectation would be the same, which was already the pure bliss and amazement. Atlas, the writers changed it, because WHO KNOWS. And unfortunately it was worse, much, much, worse.

HBO doesn't get it. They LET this horrendous script get adapted to TV, and not only that, but the Finale in particularly wasted So much TIME. There was only about 24 minutes of actual dialogue and monologuing out of that hour and a half episode. The rest was just characters walking and staring.
It has NOTHING to do with the Hard work the actors, visuals and music, it was the shitty script that botched this great show. No one wanted it to be re done, but Wanted to send a message to the writers and HBO that YOU guys let this happen. D&D ruined the script, but you let it go through, and ultimately wasted a lot of people's time and money.

Saying that the ending would disappoint just because of its expectations is a total cop out.
HBO tried to get the writers to do more and not cut the final season short but they did because they wanted to leave for Star Wars. Dont insult our intelligence.
It sucked because it was rushed and didn't tie together many of the lose eneds or interesting threads that were developed throughout the course of the shows decade span.
It was massively flawed not our expectations. I would watch a shit YouTube remake of the ending at this point to replace my memories of what D&D put together.

It's such a poor business choice from HBO. Remaking season 8 would surely be expensive, but they may just revive their biggest title to date, and if they do it with George RR Martin, perhaps they could've even made more seasons. Not only would that mean a huge profit, just from finishing this series, but it would also revive the potential for sequals, prequals and movies. The laziness of 2 writers has ruined the potential of an obscene amount of income. If they would've been wise, they would have done everything in their power to at least attempt to redo contracts and redo the season.

Of course Sophie Turner and the kid who played Bran Stark are indignant about the petition. THEY actually had good endings for their characters. Kit Harrington is probably just glad he doesn't have to do the show anymore, he hasn't kept it a secret that he's sick of the show. You can't please everyone. Is there anyone this ending did please? Point them out to me and you'll be pointing at a person who either A isn't an actual fan of the show who watched it from begging to end, or B thinks that Rian Johnson is a brilliant screen writer.

Its utterly laughable that these people think the petition is just because some didnt like the ending. It has to do with how absolutely god awful the writing was and how none of it made any sense because the characters werent acting the same way they had throughout the whole show. Season 8 is one giant plot hole.
And if the actors actually like the show and were satisfied with the writing and how their character were acting uncharacteristically then I dont believe they watched the show and definitely didnt watch season 8

HBO controls this narrative. But they are wrong. Though it's true that you can't please everyone, you only pleased about 5% of the fans.
Most fans didn't expect it to end exactly the way they wanted it to end. We just didn't expect the ending to be as though the creators and the writers were telling HBO and the fans, Let's just see how badly we can screw this great show up at the end. It literally seemed like this is what happened.

For all the terrible things that people have said about the ending of Game of Thrones, I have yet to see a single thing negative about the actors, crew, production. most have gone out of their way to compliment the production. The actors did an outstanding job. My hope is that the actors and everyone involved in the production of this does not take the criticism about the story personally.
