Things Only Adults Notice In Artemis Fowl
video description
Me: So a child who is fond of suits doesn't kidnap a fairy from an oak tree? Holly doesn't still have a chip on her shoulder and something to prove? Mulch isn't exactly how he is on the page (his voice being gravelly because he eats dirt and gravel? Root doesn't still sound like someone who was forced to quit cigars and cursing? Oh, and it's not about holding the fairy hostage, demanding a golden MacGuffin in the form of an ACORN, combining the ancient ritual with bits of the Eternity Code? Haven City doesn't look exactly like the books? Briar Gudgeon isn't a sleazeball who takes over and sends in the troll?
. Oh wait, that all DID happen. Watered down? Heavily. But it was still adapted, after 20 years of waiting. How did you expect better than that after so much time? Also, how dare you demand any child actor to endure the horribly uncomfortable scenario that was Angeline Fowl. Because he never was doing it for the gold or to restart the empire. He was doing it for his mother so he could make that wish. He simply knew exactly what he needed to do, and how far he needed to go. That is why he thought himself an evil genius.
But if he were truly evil, he would have smothered her in her sleep and put her down so her insanity would no longer affect her or bother him. He never would have agreed to half the gold.
Y'all been reading the wrong Artemis Fowl. Cruel? Yes. Sadistic? Yes, but I don't need that. I need a genius who will stop at nothing for his family. And that's what I got. They lifted entire pages, lines, scenes from the book. But it's Disney, people! Moreso, it started with 20th Century Fox. Again, what. Did you. Expect?

0: 06 There's nothing for adults here, doubly so for anyone who read the book. It's lazy and disorganized, filled with cliches, childish dialogue, and excessive narration, on top of being built around a pointless Macguffin and countless rabbit trails. The movie also kept no aspect of the story or characters faithful to the books. It's an adaptation in name only.
0: 32 Disney has a sick obsession with killing off parents, often mothers, of protagonists. Artemis Fowl's mother is very much alive in the novel, and her mental state is a plot point that becomes significant at the end of the first book.
4: 18 The one thing kids and parents, fans of fantasy and fans of the books can agree on is that this movie is not good. It's quality is sub-par to a Spy Kids sequel themed around faeries.

In the book he actually doesnt have adult supervision other than butler, and he basically has to do whatever Artemis wants. His dad is actually missing and his mom is crazy with grief. So it makes sense. just not for the movie

I felt this could have started with second book and threw in flash backs - the script that they went with was week, I know Mr. Colfer wanted to see his words come to life, but in this film it did not happen

2: 00 Artemis said, I have someone on it. when asked about the media. He and Holly told many of the details to Mulch so he could weave the whole story. Wow. Not that hard to figure out.

Theyre just saying stuff about the movie. This is like when people but blah blah blah ending explained and instead of explaining something, they just go through the plot.

Wow this looks like another bomb failure like a wrinkle in time movie that was made by Disney. I might give hope it does better then other movies base on books too.

Between films like Prince of Persia, A wrinkle in Time, Tommarow Land and the Lone Ranger, is Artemis Fowl the worst of Disney's live action films?
