Vikings: The Best And Worst Things About The Hit Show. Vikings has gone through plenty of ups and downs over the years. Even today, the show plays on many of the same strengths as it did in the beginning and suffers from the same weaknesses, too.

Vikings was by far one of my favorite shows. till Season 5. After Ragnar's death the show handled transition to the next generation terribly. In history Ivar and Bjorn were much famous Vikings than their father, but the show butchered them, especially Ivar by turning him into a treachorus villain to his own people. Ivar's battle against English king Alfred had so much potential, but the show scrapped it completely. Bjorn's famous Mediterranean invasion cut awfully short and pointless. Increasing episodes per season from 10 to 20 didn't do any good either, with lots of unnecessarry drama and filler episodes the show's quality dropped. Back then I was eagerly waiting for each new episode, but now I don't care anymore. The show became a shadow of it's former self.

Everything that came after the fist half of the fourth season is trash. It was basically just muh strong wamen and nothing else. A viking in these times crying for 10 minutes about how a woman has empowered all the women in the world and hit. absolute joke.

I give you the short answer: the closer to 1st episode - the better. The closer you get to the last episode the worst it gets. From hero to zero.
