The real problem with the film version of V for Vendetta is that the idea that V speaks of that can't be killed is radically different from the one in the graphic novel setting up a dissonance. Moore's novel is a political one that espouses Anarchy as the adult form of human co-existence.

So, 2020 - virus, check. Lots of dead, check. Lots of fear, check. Lockdowns and elimination of freedom, check. There just does not seem to be a V present and all are happy - i. e. people are complacent - for the sake of convenience they are willing to give up their rights.
