The first time I heard of Dark Troopers is when I played the FPS LucasArts game Dark Forces about 25 years ago. Didn't expect to see them reappear in the Mandalorian so many years later but I guess that's the hallmark of the Star Wars universe, as so many stuff from the 1977/1980s movies are still considered an important part of the most recent Star Wars content.

These aren t Easter eggs dumb dumb. They are only Easter eggs if u live under a rock! I knew all this stuff it s not Easter eggs. An Easter egg is like when u we something in the background and it relates to something else like a different movie or the director and stuff.

The Dark Troopers were not based on Iron Man. They were an actual enemy in the 1995 video game Star Wars: Dark Forces. They are the only piece of media the dark troopers showed up in before this episode.
