My parents saw it before us kids. After they saw it, they dragged us to it. I wasn't into sci-fi at all. And I mean after seeing star trek on TV where you could see the string on the ships, I wasn't really interested in Star Wars.
We got to the theater and there was a huge line. That never happened at our crappy theater! Anyway we sat down, it started and that first ship came across the screen. It was amazing! I was hooked! We all loved it!
I'm not even sure how many times I saw it. We had t-shirts and toys.

1. My dad and I standing in the cold (May in Chicago is cold) until the manager hobbled down the line that wrapped around the theater to say, Tickets are sold out. And coming back the next day to have the same thing happen again. Didn t finally see it until June.
2. Seeing it eleven more times that year, by taking each member of my family individually at least once.

I saw it with my 2 Best friends in a new multiplex in Louisville, Kentucky Opening night, and we were on the first row way to the right! We were mesmerized! Went back with them 5 more times and with various friends and my Dad 10 more after that. The whole summer was a Star Wars summer! I still remember it 44 years ago! I was a Star Trek fan before this, but now I'm a Star Wars fan too! As we all should be!

I was 16 in 1977. There were only 2 screens at the Cerritos Mall, CA My friends were in line for 5 hrs plus. Line wrapped around the outside theatre, into the parking lot and around the Broadway Dept Store. I had never seen anything like it. The entire country was going nuts. It was the best of times.

My now wife, and I saw it on opening night at the biggest screen in the Kansas City area. We smoked a whole gram of hash in the parking lot beforehand. So I don t remember all that much about people s reactions. Saw it again, less high this time, and was sold forever on far, far away.

When my family and i first saw it and Darth Vader made his entrance my late mum asked me; What's he saying? I don't understand it sounds like he's whispering super that all those soldiers are dead. I saud mum he's not saying anything he's breathing his mask is a respirator.

I was on a first date and he was a sci fi fan. I was not but I figured I would go along with it. I absolutely loved the whole movie and was hooked. We later had a son who loved it as well. He wanted a Millennium Falcon so bad.

Star Wars was the very first movie I watched. I was 5 at the time and my grandma and I watched it. Back then, you could stay in the theater all day as long as it was not crowded. I watched the movie twice that day.

I would have been in the same theater watching Star Wars all year if I was alive back then. If Star Wars got replaced by another movie then I would have gone to another theater that still shows it.
