May I ask something.
What's so great about high school prom and homecoming in real life?
I've never experienced something like prom or homecoming. My school just didn't do those types of dances. We had festivals and some school trips and special events but not prom nor homecoming.
And I often heard people complain about NOT having any type of school dance that they sometimes organized their own (but they were usually pretty sucky)
Im just really curious about how it is
Thanks for your time and have a nice day

Fist off, I just started watching season 1 of Glee and I spoilt the surprise of 3 marriage proposals (my bad.
Most importantly, every time a watch a US teen drama, I wonder: when the hell are studying? Did the pass all day long on football practice, cheerleading training and glee rehearsal? What's more, how could teenagers hang out all the time at night and crash each other other's place at anytime?
Ah wait a minute, here comes the explanation: they go on to college on a football scholarship.

things that are in high school tv shows and movies that are in accurate (these are just my experiences)
1. cheerleaders are always popular and always date the football players
2. there are no popular kids. high school is too big for anyone to be the most popular person
3. prom is only for seniors, you can only go if youre a senior or have a senior date and you need to buy your ticket ahead of time you cant just show up last minute

There should be a 'High School Drama' that has a boy and girl in it who are bickering enemies through out the entire series and never get together at all; just to get away from that whole love/hate cliche thing, and to fool viewers who were certain that they would end up as a couple.

Heck with love triangles, weve got love quadrilaterals. Rachel, Finn, Puck, and Quinn from Glee, andI havent seen the show, but from what I can tell theres something going on with Dawson, Pacey, Jen, and that one other girl I can never remember in Dawsons creek

I think the prom cliche is probably bigger than the teacher/student relationship (at least to my knowledge) because prom can go in anything, including shows for kids. Teachers/students can't. Also, usually the student or teacher is a much more side character

Apparently in fictional high school towns the teenage pregnancy rate is off the charts I died laughing. I don't know why.
Edit: Charecters never seem to attend classes and are usually in the Hallway
Edit++: Love Triangles yes preeeaachhh

Ok but teen pregnancy is very common, and this isn't a bad cliche. On average at my high school when I was in high school, at least 3 girls would be pregnant every year. I graduated in 2018. That's a valid cliche

Gossip girl's prom scene should be mention here. Cause it was so good means chuck fulfill blair's wishes and voted for her 150 times. AND blair realized that chuck is the only one she loves.

Three is more:
Living alone or with your girlfriend, boyfriend or with friend family
Students parents get together
After girl gets pregnant she keeps raising child

When I watch these high school shows I always think that high school would be like these high schools and get of going to high school in a few weeks but it really isn't

That Finn proposing to Rachel scene always made me tear up. Yes, they were endgame. They will always be endgame. Finchel lives in our hearts forever.

Enemies becomes friends. For example: Rory and Paris (Gilmore girls, Brooke and Rachel (OTH) and the most homofobic person turns out to be gay.

Let me guess no female character has martial skill and always get saved by hot guy is one of these cliche? What no girl broke the bullies nose?
reply

How do u put bad boy and good girl for Blair and Chuck when Blair was not a good girl and miss out a perfect couple like Oliver and felicity
reply

I love this scene between brooke and lucas. Every teen drama had the pregnancy scare episode or was actually pregnant
reply

As a Brit I am offended you didn't use any examples from Waterloo Road, it literally fits all of these cliche's
reply
