I know there're many people in the movie circles hating Mary Poppins. They look down upon it, ignore it, dismiss it And I can understand them to some extent. But in fact, I still don't think laugh, happiness, struggling in the reality but try to smile is less holy. To be honest, I had a tendency to depression before, but after watching Mary Poppins-- Wow It's really simple, but What a special charm that I don't know how to describe it with words It saved me. Maybe I just forgot, though there're some sufferings we really can't overcome, a spoonful of sugar still helps the medicine go down, and sometimes we can go to feed the birds or fly a kite
Thank you A Spoonful of Sugar
Thank you Mary Poppins

Now I want to go watch the whole movie. It has been a long time. A lot of people don't even realize that even though he has relatively less scree time than other characters, Mr Banks is the main character. He is the one whose world has been shaken, who hits rock bottom, and then is reborn with a new outlook where he embraces his family and realizes that without them, none of the material gains he has worked so hard for have any value. Mary Poppins is merely the catalyst for this change. Anyway it has been many years since I last saw this film and I had forgotten how good it really is.

I watched this movie recently, I was really excited about it from the start, just the idea that it's a collaboration between Walt Disney and Julie Andrews gives me chills. I'm being honest with y'all this movie is well done in terms of its artistic and technical aspects. it was a pity that it didn't win an Oscar for best picture cuz this movie has aged sooo fine with time. but Julie Andrews got her Oscar for it and this win is what I will call top Oscar winners of all time.

My top 3 songs from this movie
03. Chim Chim Cher-ee (One of those great recurring songs)
02. Step In Time (the fireworks part is probably the best part, but there is just so many energy in the dance)
01. Feed The Birds (I mean, this song is UNFORGETTABLE)
Step In Time is my favorite along with Feed The Birds, Chim Chim Cheree, Lets Go Fly A Kite, and theres so many others.

you missed the A Man Has Dreams scene where Bert gets Mr. Banks to finally understand.
You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone. though childhood slips, like sand through a sieve, and all too soon, they've up and grown, and then they've flown, and its too late for you to give, just that spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. Best scene in the movie

It's a thread in the whole movie and also has the same atmosphere with the whole movie Simple (expect Julie Andrews' high notes, but profound

The number one single greatest moment in this film is the scene where Mr. Banks is walking to the bank knowing he's about to lose his job, and in his opinion, everything he has. It's not great because it's fun, it's great because it's powerful.
reply

I was rather hoping the scene with George Banks strolling to the bank during the finale would get a mention. Not because Doug Walker called it his favourite bit, but with that said, I do agree with him that's it's quite a powerful moment.

I believe Bert is a wizard and Mary is a witch and both of White Magic. Especially, when Mary huffs and exclaims, Oh Bert, why do you always have to make things more complicated, then they really are?

Im 36 years old, and every time I hear the first few notes of feed the birds my eyes welt up immediately. I actually have to take a gulp down to keep them from going astray. none of that nonsense lol
reply

I could cry about this movie, it's one of my favorite Disney movies and as for the songs, I don't know where to begin, they're all so great but I would say Chim Chim Cheree or Go Fly a Kite
reply

The elderly woman on the steps selling bird feed for tuppence a bag looks very much like Ma Joad from the Grapes of Wrath. Jane Darwell was her name l think. Anybody else notice that?
reply

I think that the kite should be number 1. It shows that the family is back together and that they dont need Mary poppins anymore. It is heartwarming and in my opinion the best scene

Without Mary Poppins there would have been no Nanny McPhee. I found it ironic when Mary Poppins said she would never get cross but she did a few times in the film.
reply

I could take or leave Mary Poppins. I was 12 when it came to my town and was booked for over a year. By the time everyone had seen it, it had lost its novelty.
reply

The great, multi talented and forever beautifful Julie Andrews is a practically perfect treasure and any of her scenes is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
reply

Feed the Birds! :'(
Such an emotional but powerful scene. The true message is not about feeding birds but rather showing people kindness.

Why was My #1 fav song #2 on this list?
I love this List but Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious should have been #1.

Who else agrees that Mary Poppins should have just been left alone and that we didn't need a sequel Mary Poppins returns

On the Stepping Lively sequence, you've gotta give editor Cotton Warburton for some very interesting editing shots.
