This movie sends an unhealthy message to people and encourages them to give up on trying to stay in shape, instead opting to indulge in delusion of obesity positivity. The main character is morbidly obese and puts herself in danger of major health complications. Basically, it's sick leftist propaganda. Unbelievable that more people aren't speaking out against the toxic message residing in this movie.
Save yourself effort of sitting through this odious immoral nightmare of accepting what is unacceptable and demanding tolerance for the intolerable and use the run time of the film to actually go for a run.
You'd feel better exercising than trying to defy biological reality with delusions of obesity positivity.

Some people are really annoying me in the comments, saying that it's not a good message and being fat isn't anything to be proud of and that you're ALWAYS unhealthy if you're fat.
1. THIS is not true for skinny people could have a terrible, unhealthy diet, and a fat person could be healthy with fruit, veg and many other things.
2. It's a freaking film, get over it.
If you are one of these people, then get a life and stop hating on morbidly obese people as you classify Willowdean. You a practically saying no one who is fat can love themself.

I loved that the characters were PEOPLE and not CHARICATURES. I thought Jennifer Aniston was PERFECT. I figured the mom was just going to be a fat-shaming cartoon pageant mom. No, she genuinely loved her daughter. When she drove up and said something like Im sorry I was too busy working to keep a roof over your head to attend your Dolly Parton parties, I'm a mom, its what moms do. and then drove off, it was perfect. Sometimes kids and teens need to be reminded of that sort of thing.

Other than her getting the guy this reminds me of when I was in school I started doing pageants I won Miss Congenital in my last middle school pageant and it was my last pageant with my mom the falling year my mom died and when I showed up for the pageant rehearsal for my first High school pageant I won Miss Congenital ageing and I got out voted for winning it I voted for someone else and that was one of the High lights of my year but as the can see from my picture I'm plus size

Watched this show last night. It was amazing! I love the Dolly soundtrack! She's such an inspiration to all women, not matter what their body type, or what type of life they come from, everyone can relate to Dolly! My favorite quote from her. it takes a lot of money to look this cheap! What an amazing woman. And such a great empowering movie.

Just watched Dumplin and thought about how much I resonates with Will. It was amazing to see how she tackles everything. She is motivating and a true example of self love. Im glad she was able to get over herself (as well all have to do at some point) and be exactly who she is. beautiful. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!

One of my favorite movies! I have watched it repeatedly on Netflix for 3 weeks. Lol probably probably 30 times. I love all of the characters and the message that this movie brings. Splash on some Dolly And you've got yourself a winner. And the Hannah character was also in the SCREAM T. V. series. Love her!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie!
I cried like a big ol cry baby throughout the entire movie. And I'm not a huge country music fan, but I have heard Dolly Parton songs before, but this movies soundtrack made me love Dolly almost as much as Willowdean Opal. Excellent movie!

i love how they had millie come runner up but i wish that either hannah or willowdean couldve won, because having beckah win kinda just showed that no matter how hard u try you will still get beaten out by the perfect person

I come from a pageant background and this movie brought me to tears. I was very big in high school then lost all the weight and competed in pageants to be an advocate to unconventional and non-conforming beauty.

This movie was great. It wasnt too preachy or trying too hard. And made me emotional the whole movie. I am so glad that a Netflix movie finally made me feel this way. Jen Aniston is incredible.

made me cry. its unrealistic. im 64 kg and 168 cm. im low key fat. need to be 48 kg before nice guys like me. getting there slowly thru starvation. So far only an abusive guy ever liked me
reply

I'm going to be honest. I didn't like this movie as much because I thought the main lead was being annoying mid movie but it does have a good message. I think the ending was fine.

LOVED this movie! AND, as a fiddle player, learned that kick-ass fiddle tune from the opening pageant scene. Great job listing the positive attributes of this film. It's a gem.

Dumplin was really good and i'm glad Netflix finally did right on body image, bullying and self esteem than Sierra Burgess or Insatiable also the music is really amazing

This movie has staying power-a relatable story that encourages people to accept others as they are-and recognizes that so many people have so much to offer the world.

I don't want to say it's because the source material was way better than those other movies/shows. but the source material was WAY BETTER than those other stuff!

I could never win a beauty pageant. 1. Because I wanna keep my ankles heel, ain't my thang. 2. I probably would pig out before a pageant and bust my dress.

I read the book a few years ago and I really enjoyed it, so I was very excited to see they had made a movie. I was not disappointed either! I loved it: D

Dumplin was such a feel good film with a strong message about body image, social standards and self esteem. It was funny, upsetting and sassy.

I swear that when they were in the practicing room and Hannah was trying to dance, that was literally me everytime I try to dance.
reply

I cried tears of happiness a good 5 times throughout this movie.
Millie is a gift and we all deserve a Millie in our lives.

body positivity = fat acceptance
It is NOT okay to be obese. STOP supporting the acceptance of being UNHEALTHY.

reply

People should not be judged by the way they are built and Dolly Parton is the best that is what I like about the movie

This movie is what Sierra Burgess is a loser tried and failed to be. A movie that promotes body positivity
