It's been how many years now and I still cry hard enough to give myself a headache during The Quarterback if I dare to watch any portion of that episode. Most of the rest of Glee is so painfully cringe-worthy, but when they went for it on the serious stuff, they dug in hard.
What makes The Quarterback so much more is that many of the actors didn't even have to act much. They were ALL genuinely mourning.

What about riverdale Luke Perry tribute episode
Cory monteith was gone too soon
I understand how much pain and sorrow the cast of glee felt during the episode the quarterback
After him Mark Salling hung himself
Must be a curse
I know what Mark Salling did was wrong but he was a broken man.
I bet he is reunited with Cory monteith in heaven as angels
We all lose somebody we love

I think Ozymandias (Breaking Bad 5x13) in my opinion is the saddest episode in tv history because its the point at which Walt loses everything, Hank, His family, Jesse, everything. Its even more heartbreaking when he holds Holly because she is the only one who cant hate him but the moment she cries and says Mama Walt has truly lost.

I don't cry at shows or movies very often but The Quarterback made me cry for ages. I don't watch Glee but I saw Blake Jenner in The Edge of Seventeen so I just picked the one I thought had the most interesting summary on Netflix. I made a big mistake choosing that one.

I know this was just a small little detail in the video but I always get sad when I think about John Ritter. He died too soon, he was an amazing guy and SOOOO funny! Jack Tripper will always be the most prominent character of my childhood. I'm glad there's a tribute to him.

The fact that Dennys' death was the only Greys death to officially make this list is a travesty. that was so early in the series, and there would be SO MANY others later on (Lexie, and Mark, and YES I'm still bitter, maybe Grey's just needs it own video!

Newsradio Season 5 episode 1. Phil Hartman got murdered and they had to have a funeral episode for his character Bill. The tears were real and the cast said it was one of the hardest things to film. They frequently had to cut due to breakdowns.

Scrubs - My Lunch episode where all three of Dr. Cox's patients died and he gave up on being a doctor always had me bawling. Also the episode where Ben died. Scrubs is probablly the only show that made me laugh as much as it made me cry.
reply

Even though you said you would clear tv series endings, you should have added Liz Forbes's death from The Vampire Diaries here. Caroline's grief was just painful which was one of the reasons she decided to turn off her humanity.

i missed the episode from scrubs when ben died. i cried and still cry when i think about it. where do you think we are. it came so unexpected. i just sat in my room in silence for half an hour not knowing what to say: -(

I couldn't watch Super Bowl Sunday without crying, can't even imagine watching that Glee episode, even though I've never watched the show. Also, they sang a parody of 9 million 9 hundred 86 thousand minutes!

SPOILER ON MERLIN
When arthur died I cried for 2 weeks. I had no idea how the legend went so it was totally unexpected. The combination of the death and the end of the show completely broke my heart.

I totally agree with the quarterback as number 1, but think you should've mentioned the school shooting episodes of Degrassi(as well as the episode after JT's death) and One Tree Hill
reply

Fresh Prince is my pick, that episode wrecks me everytime. It's one thing for a loved one to die but a whole other pain when someone just does not want you anymore. especially a parent.

Ummm I know we had Buffy the Becoming Part 2 here but that wasnt even that sad. The Body s5 ep16 must be the saddest episode of any show ever made.
reply

i know im 2 years late but this just popped up on my feed, can i juat point out that two of these use the same song, glee and the office to say goodbye.
reply

I knew Buffy had to be in this list, and high up, for exactly those 2 episodes. Those where the actor passed away. those fairwell episodes are esp poignant.

reply

Ryan Murphy said about The Quarterback that he had never been on a set where filming was impossible because people were crying so much. I believe it 100%.
reply

I would also add either Docor Who's Doomsday or Journey's End to that list. Both end up with heartbreaking conclusions that leave you balling.

Okej becoming(part2) is not the saddest episode of Buffy. Not even close. The body is way worse. The gift is worse. I mean come on
