The Democratic Party on December 20, 1860, six weeks after the presidential election on Nov. 6, 1860, of the Republican Abraham Lincoln, South Carolina a state dominated by Democrats voted to secede from the United States because they hate and refuse to accept Black people as human beings, thus started the civil war.
The Republican Party pass the 13th amendment which frees the slaves, they then pass the 14th amendment which gave Black people citizenship and the 15th amendment which gave Black people the right to vote.
