My top 10
1. Junebug (heartbreaking and innocuous)
2. The Master (masterful and layered, should be studied in film schools)
3. Arrival (nuanced and emotional)
4. American Hustle (blew me away)
5. Sunshine Cleaning (sooo underrated)
6. Nocturnal Animals (just brilliant)
7. Enchanted (charming and breaks stereotypes)
8. The Fighter (plays against the type fantastically)
9. Vice (Lady Macbeth)
10. Big Eyes (feminine yet resolute)
Honorable mentions: Doubt, Her, Catch Me if, Charlie Wilson's War, Julie and Julia, Talladega Nights.
Such a stellar actress!

Now up to six Oscar nominations, and the missed nomination for Arrival was unacceptable (possibly should have won. I also thought her performance in The Fighter was much more engaging, complex and well-executed than Melissa Leo who won for the same movie (though Leo was also excellent, her character was one-note. Beyond Oscars though, her performances stand on their own as great pieces of art - her ability to display the thoughts and feelings of her characters is second to none. She's often the audience's window into the motivations of characters and the machinations of plot.

My very favorite Amy Adams role was that of Delysia LaFosse in Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. I love that film, and Adams was brilliant, as was Frances McDormand. Lee Pace, Mark Strong, and others were also perfectly cast. It's the kind of movie that is so sharp, so smart, so quickly paced that it takes your breath away. It has been sorely neglected and should have gotten a much better reception. Perhaps the timing of its arrival was not in alignment with the stars. Whatever the case, both Adams and McDormand should have won awards: they were wonderful!

Here is my list (top 5):
1. Junebug
2. American Hustle
3. The Fighter
4. The Master
5. Doubt
I still think Junebug is her best performance. The scene at the hospital alone should have won her that Oscar, the way she conveys such raw emotion. She did in one scene what most actors hope to accomplish over a whole career. These rankings are also partly influenced by my preference for the film as a whole. I would have ranked The Master lower, but after watching this video, I see that her role in The Master does have more layers.

She deserves the following wins and nominations:
Best Supporting Actress - Junebug (2005) won
Best Actress - Enchanted (2007) nominated
Best Supporting Actress - Doubt (2008) won
Best Supporting Actress - The Fighter (2010) nominated
Best Supporting Actress - The Master (2012) won
Best Actress - American Hustle (2013) nominated
Best Actress - Big Eyes (2014) nominated
Best Actress - Arrival (2016) nominated
I didn't care much for the movie Vice. I'm sorry, I hope you understand.

I hope she gets an Oscar soon. She deserves it. She can really act. She surprises me in almost every role she plays. Shes no wing-it girl when it comes to the roles she plays. The best kind of actor is the one who lives the character for a brief time in front of the camera, and makes the audience forget (at least for a little while) that its just an act. She not only reads her lines, but feels them. And it shows in the final results.

From 2005 to 2019. 15 years to be exact and with those 15 years she manage to achieve 6 nominations (Junebug, Doubt, The Fighter, The Master, American Hustle and Vice). I cant wait for the 2021 Academy award (since she will be staring along side 7 time Oscar Nominated Glen Close for Hillbilly Elegy, I hoping both of them gets their 1st Oscar together.

In every single role she has delivered superb performance - Missed from the list - Vice, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Sunshine Cleaning. Amy Adams it's national treasure. I hope that her next oscar nominations will lead to oscar win! She deservers a lot more attention and recognition. Lover her!

To say about Adam's role in American Hustle that Adam more than holds her own is a misleading understatement at best. Adams literally carries the movie beginning to end, with perhaps the exception of Jennifer Lawrence. These two female characters ARE the movie, and stay with you forever.

Her ability to look completely different in each movie is amazing. the way she can just morph into these totally different characters. She has also managed to not become a diva in spite of her beauty and talent, she still seems down to earth and a genuinely sweet person. Love her!

. she is so powerful and intense in her roles that, if I was a director, I would hire her for starring as Antigone, namely as the most heartbreaking character in all the entire Western drama tradition. Amy Adams is devastatingly sublime.
reply

I loved her in Leap Year (2010) starring alongside Matthew Goode and Adam Scott. Sure the Irish representation wasn't great, but the chemistry was there and it's just a feel good kind of film!
reply

What's weird is I loved Amy Adams in Arrival and in Enchanted but her characters are so opposite. One is so serious and mature, the other is childlike. But both opposite roles, she was spectacular.
reply

I was revisiting the Night at the Museum movies as they're on Disney Plus, and one thing I had forgotten between now and the last time I watched the second movie is how Bloody Adorable Amy Adams is.
reply

She is a very talented actress, her performance as Lois Lane in Man of Steel should have been on the list! One day the Academy should come to their senses and give her an Oscar!
reply

she's 1 of those actresses that owns whatever role she does, always wonder which of her characters is closest to her in real life my money's on anna brady from leap year
reply

In retrospect, its too early to make a video like this for her. Shes now a six-time Oscar nominee (Vice) with a seventh (Hillbilly Elegy) possibly on the way.

I probably watched Enchanted more than 10 times already! It's 2020 and I still can't believe Amy Adams doesn't have an Oscar yet.
reply

I think I noticed her first in Sunshine Cleaning, even if I saw her before. She was so convincing and funny, and it's a nice movie.
reply

How could her role in Man of steel doesn't even have a honorable mention? She was good in that and her role was important.
reply

I thought she was awesome as Camille in sharp objects aswell
I just realized this video was before sharp objects lol

reply

Oscars are not the barometer for talent in Hollywood. To me, she is the best actress of this century.
reply

I know Leap Year seems like fluff but she carries the movie almost singlehandedly. Its worth a watch.
