I wasn't happy with the 2018 A STAR IS BORN! Bradley Cooper directed and starred in this role that I feel like he built up a lot more than THE BARBRA STREISAND A STAR IS BORN! I feel that the songs could have been MUCH MORE POWERFUL AND STRONGER than what they were like with the 2 songs Barbra Streisand sung at the end of her version! They were very powerful! The new STAR IS BORN was not as strong with their songs! Bradley Cooper's EGO showed badly! They should have worked on Lady Gaga's roll so much more than they did! WHAT THE HELL WAS UP WITH THE ORANGE HAIR? She's a BEAUTY and should have been made into such from them making her wear NO MAKE-UP they should have gone all out making her the best she could have been! I FEEL THAT BRADLEY COOPER SOAKED UP THE ENTIRE THING WITH HIS EGO AND THE ROLL HE GAVE HIS SELF! I BELIEVE HE TOOK AWAY FROM THE STRONGER ROLL THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO LADY GAGA! Even NOW! Everyone is raving about BRADLEY COOPER and he's okay but he isn't that good! Not until he did this movie and made him out to be the main charater instead of Lady Gaga that should have come out of this all much better! I truly was disappointed because I know they could have made her so much better and the songs so much stronger instead of concentrating on HIS SELF as he did!

Loved Bradley & Gaga, I think he picked her when she honored the great Julie Andrews at th 2012 Ocars. I have some remarks to make, though. Musically, I think the Garland and Streisand versions are as good as this one, Garland sang The Man that Got Away so amazingly and the Streisand finale is overwhelming. In the 2018 version, Gaga's Shallow soared high. Interestingly, while Gaga sang an old French standard when she is seen by Bradley for the first time, Streisand sang a rap, The Queen Been, so perfect for women's empowement today. And finally, I disliked how Bradley died, I would say the scene was kind of bad taste. The Streisand version had the most poetic death of all versions, with Kristofferson driving so fast and disappearing in the horizon. The first version had some poetry in it too. Both the Gaynor version and the Garland version had a lukewarm ending. The Streisand version ending was awesome, as I said, and Gaga, though very, very good, lacked the power that Streisand showed in an incredible performance.

I absolutely loved the movie. Being a recovering alcoholic with 38 year of sobriety under my belt, Bradley's performance and direction touched a core part of my experience and the hopeless suicidal mindset that haunted me and was something I tried and failed at on my way to my bottom. The pain in his expression and the way, as director, he framed his face was so powerful i was almost sobbing. I have been trying to think of a way that I might one day thank them both personally for touching a part of my life. It is the best characterization of the powerlessness I have ever seen.
I loved it so much but it took me time to finally watch it again on a plane trip. But when I did it got me just as strongly. I hope Bradley and Gaga read this so they know how much they touched my soul.
Thank you, I love what you created.

Their falling in love was palpable, as was his self abuse, and for that matter pretty much everything about this movie. Two of my favorite things about this version, is that He doesn't get jealous and act like a spoiled brat; And when he does get blackout drunk, and pisses himself at the grammy's, She appeared to be more concerned with him than herself. They showed a larger than life Love for each other. Even the suicide was seemingly at least partly based on his not wanting to Stand in Her way. This version is as good as it can get; It's Excellent.

This version is the absolute best. Lady Gaga and Bradley are wonderful. When he embarrassed her it was the most dramatic since he didn't mean to shame her or embarrass her he was simply waisted. What her promoter did to him was absolutely shameful. He was fresh out of rehab and he more or less told him that he was going to destroy her career. I wanted to strangle him. Bradley shaped his own character into something real and the most human. we understand where he's coming from and its not all about his ego. I loved it.

I absolutely love this version but I still think the Barbara Streisand and Kris Kristofferson version is equal to it for the chemistry and the tenderness between them the song's Kristofferson sings at the start leave much to be desired but the song's Streisand sings are perfection and the ones between them are moving evergreen can't be beaten but all other aspects pointed out are correct the chemistry between Lady ga ga and Bradley Cooper is heartmelting I wish someone looked at me like Bradley looks at ga ga

No way, no one can hold a candle to Barbra Streisand with her voice. My opinion A Star Is Born with Barbra Streisand is so much better than this new one. Most of the songs in that 1976 movie are so much better. I'm not saying Gaga is a bad singer, she's very good at what she does. But no way 'Shallow' is better than all the songs Barbra sang in her movie. No way! Evergreen alone is unforgettable, that song is beautiful! No comparison, Barbra's A Star Is Born wins in my book!

I didnt feel even 10% of sincerity or emotion from B. S in ASIB, when compared with L. GaGa.
In all Barbra S. dramatic movie roles I never felt like the characters she portrayed we're capable of raw emotion passion, sadness, etc.
I loved her early 60's, 70's, 90's(and more recent )comedic roles though. I guess basically all her comedies she was excellent in them. It's weird that some actors are great at drama but terrible at comedies, and vice versa.

I had a hard time believing their love. Bradley was amazing my hear broke for him and his brother Bobby. Barbra and Kris you actually saw the love. Bradley and Sam Elliot that was believable. years of watching Jack destroy himself, I felt like Ally was more a friend than lover. yes her voice is great but it was Bradley your heart wept for. he didn't receive the acknowledgement he deserves.

Very good examination of all versions! Someone did their homework! But the first two versions did have memorable supporting actors: May Robson, Charles Bickford and Andy Devine in the original, and Tommy Noonan gives a brutal pep talk to Judy near the climax in the 1954 version. Mustnt forget Jack Carsons cynical press agent: This is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but a whimper.

Unpopular Opinion:
I don't know but after I watched the end of the movie is like I really piss so bad for Jack He don't deserve like that. He's suffering depression and staying in the void for a long time. When after what he did at the Oscars he wanted to change and started to begin a new life with Ally but you know sad to say that fcking manager give him another pain

Yet another classic movie ruined by a modern version.
When will this ever stop from happening?
People just cant sing these days.
The modern generation has just about destroyed everything these day.
What a talentless generation we are listening to these days, particularly in the musical field.
Everything is about noise, look at me, I am someone.

All I could think of when Ally said people hated her or didn't take her seriously because her nose was too big is, OMG, Streisand played this part and has a much bigger nose than you do Sweetheart! I have to say, I have seen all versions and Gaga's amd Cooper's is by far the best!

I was out of town for work and I really wanted to see this movie. I've never gone to a movie alone in my entire life. NOTE: I'm an alpha male type. And I couldn't believe this movie made me cry. Damn. I ended up watching it several more times while I was out of town.

The 2018 version sucks. Cooper and Gaga don't come close to Kristoferson and Streisand. The music isn't nowhere as good, and the story line is weak. My alcoholic brother has a better story than this movie. Some movies should be left alone when it's hit it's peak.

Another thing which is worth mentioning is the incredlible concert tours made by Streisand and Kristofferson with thousands of people in stadiums, while the Gaga and Cooper concerts seem to be such limited engagements in small venues.

After I saw A Star Is Born 2018 I was surprised by how great, and realistic it was! This version holds true to how modern stardom is! It truly is a romantically tragic love story that will go on throughout the ages.

The elephant in the room on this story is, will we see The two actors singer songwriters talk or even sing together. They both turned in great preference and I dare say I personally would love to see that conversation.

India has a version of a star is born and some dialogues like the one at the end, is the exact translation of the Hindi dialogues. I suggest you guys watch the movie, you can make out the similarities.

I'm not sure how many musicians rated this. Being one, whilst I liked the Gagga / Cooper version, to compare it to a mostly Paul Williams score is a bit desperate. The comparison is redundant.

I don't agree. Probably you are a young person and that's why you see this version better than the previous. Never is a good idea to compare two things or two persons from different times

What nudity? It showed Gagas boobs 1 time.
It DOES; however, have the best music. Would have LOVED to hear Gagas take on Evergreen.
Agree that their relationship is the best.

'The Man That Got Away' was the very best of all of the songs and should have won the oscar instead of the limpid 'Three Coins In A Fountain'. Judy Garland will have the last laugh.

Nothing can ever take the place of the original Judy Garland-James Mason version. Streisand's was awful and Gaga's is trash for the 21st century.
