Disney movies that break the fourth wall make the audience feel as if theyre part of the story. This is when a film, TV show, or other medium, directly addresses and comments on its fictional nature. Today, well be celebrating animated Disney films that explicitly break the fourth wall, although well be excluding live action flicks as well as Disney-owned subsidiaries like Pixar or Marvel, so our apologies to Deadpool. MsMojo ranks the best Disney movies that break the fourth wall. Whats your fourth wall break from Disney?

What about the Lion King 1 1/2, with how many times Timon and Pumba kept pausing the original, and especially the ending when a bunch of other Disney characters come wanting to watch it including the seven dwarves? Thats the best part of the movie and I honestly wished Disney would do more things like this! Or even the Sword in the Stone when Merlin exclaimed how messed up the 21st century is. Or I dont know if this counts when the hyenas are pushed into a pile of bones in Be Prepared Ed pops up with a hat like skull that almost resembles Micky Mouse ears in reference to Disney Land/World

Good picks, and Emperors is well deserved at #1 since it is the most WB-like animation, notorious for 4th wall breaking, Disney has ever produced.
However the Lilo & Stitch one seems like a stretch solely because they looked to the front during the dance. It looks more like imitating music video dance moves rather than an attempt to break a 4th wall. Even more so itd be silly to think that was the intention as it is too insignificant, specially in a movie that always play it straight in terms of cinematic conventions.

I feel like The Emperors New Groove should be 3, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh should be 2, and The Lion King 1 1/2 should be 1. My opinion. Because The Lion King 1 1/2 has the most wall breaks, and it is a wall break itself! Winnie the Pooh because they literally talk to the narrator and stuff, and The Emperors New Groove because it does have a lot of pauses in it and narrates himself a lot and reminds the audience that that is him you see and stuff.

In Tangled, Eugene Fitzherbert (AKA Flynn Rider) broke the fourth wall by addressing the audience with opening and closing monologues not to mention with Rapunzel's help of her own monologue at the end. And during the song I've Got a Dream, Eugene claims that he doesnt sing when its his turn to do a solo until the Pub Thugs at The Snuggly Duckling threatened him with their swords.

When gofer says, I'm not in the book To be honest, I didn't hear him say that when I was watching this the first time as a kid. So he admits that he's not in the book. saddest part is that it took me that long to figure it out
I did not know that Hades had a line at the very end of the credits There is so much I have missed

I just want to point out Pinnochio has 2 easter eggs: Two books that say Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan. I know what you're saying, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland came out after Pinnochio! But, those were originally going to be the first two Disney movies, Not Snow white and Pinnochio.

That line wasnt edited in the hated live action remake. Also the hula was replaced with a meta reference to Beauty and the Beast. Also some of the live action remakes have an animated castle opening and Disneyland is referenced in the 2019 Aladdin.

you forgot the scene in coco were hector is singing a song to another skeleton and the skeleton says hey those aren't the words and hector says that there are children present referring to the audience.

Tomatoa made another comment at the end when hes asking us for help. He states that if his name was Sebastian and he had a Jamaican accent then we would help him. Obviously referencing The Little Mermaid

Also, in the movie scene in Zootopia, you can see a film called Giraffic, which is a nod to a film called Gigantic. That was a film that Disney almost released, but then they canceled it.

Did anyone see a Peter Pan book and a Alice in wonderland book on the side in Pinocchio flim. So did Walt Disney tease two films that wouldnt come out for another decade or something else?
reply

Im pretty sure the re-release of Zootopia would have a parody of Raya & the Last Dragon, or any other upcoming animated Disney movie they were ACTUALLY making. Gigantic never happened.

The 4th Wall is safe from no one, not even from me.

Alan-a-Dale introducing himself by name in Robin Hood is such an epic 4th-wall break - too bad the opening credits only refer to him as the rooster

At first I was a little upset that Mary Poppins didnt get even an honorable mention, and then I remembered that it was live-action lol

Imagine if the 4th wall was broken, the 3rd wall is broken, the 2nd wall is broken, the 1st wall is broken. I would die for that.
reply

Honestly, I feel like the Emperor's New Groove was changed so much just to get 4th Wall breaks out of their systems.
reply

Wouldn't Fantasia fit perfectly on the list. There aren't many occasions in which the audience is addressed more directly.
