Favorites: Pocahontas- dont care what anyone says, the Disney version is magical. She was actually the third princess who wasnt looking for love. If anything she was trying to get out of an arranged marriage and didnt even want to be a queen/chiefs wife. Her encounter with John Smith is ethereal and magical, they way they looked at each other is She even listened to her heart with the spinning arrow which lead her to the battlefield, and their love managed to stop a freaking war from breaking out, not to mention she got her father to see the consequences of his actions, making him look just as savage as the colonists, especially considering how dark Savages was barely even human also she is actually the first princess who doesnt get a happily ever after, considering she chose her duty as princess above her love, knowing full well it meant theyd probably NEVER see each other EVER again, in comparison to say Ariel who literally fell for Eric because hes hot, and he didnt even know her name until day 2, and Triton chose to let her go. As much as I dont like Tritons uptight attitude, at least Ariels Beginning showed why he acted the way he did, considering Ariel looks almost exactly like Athena, maybe Athena was also a free spirit. Anyways back to Pocahontas, I feel she was actually one of the more mature princesses because she doesnt go with John Smith back to London, not to mention Fall was approaching so it really wasnt the best time to go sailing into the sunset. The fact Pocahontas 2 absolutely destroyed their beautiful relationship is abysmal, this couldve been a beautiful way of fate bringing back 2 lovers who thought they simply werent meant to be, and them showing that to King James, but no, lets make her accept the wrong person who tried changing her instead of embracing her and for most of the damn film was super uncomfortable presenting her all because shes a woman.
Rapunzel-shes got such a sunny personality, and being naive wasnt a weakness considering her only info came from Gothel. Not to mention she literally inspired the thugs to follow their dreams which reappear at the end and series, being welcomed in the main island of Corona. Also she and Flynn waited a whole series to get married because she wanted adventure, Flynn even says Ill be ready for you whenever youre ready to get married not to mention I havent seen any Disney series, but I admire they didnt try changing characters like Flynn and the Captain of the guards rocky friendship. Also Rapunzel never was after love either, she fell for Flynn because they were very similar, and he wasnt after her powers, even spent his one chance of a miracle to break Gothels control.
Kida- shes the first Disney Queen, get over it Elsa. Shes a badass warrior princess who was fighting to restore Atlantis to its former glory while her father refused to use the Heart of Atlantis because of using it for his selfish desires almost destroyed Atlantis. She had the chance to kill Milo, but chose to heal him instead, and in comparison to Pocahontas and John Smith, Milo can actually speak and read Atlantian, while Kida cant read it. Their relationship is so adorable, especially with Milo determined Rourke isnt getting away with mass murder by stealing their life source, you cant put a price on the lives of people. Not to mention the scene shes bonding with the crystal is so mesmerizing, which is in a way her destiny to save Atlantis and the Heart is no longer hidden. Not to mention Milo actually stays with her to help out with teaching Atlantians reading and writing and is Atlantiss new king with Queen Kida.
HM Raya and Tiana: Tiana actually was so busy trying to collect enough money she wasnt interested in love, nor does she ever ask Charlotte for help, and Lotties willingness to let the real Naveen marry Tiana is so adorable, considering this whole time Lottie thought Lawrence was actually him and had her heart set on becoming a real princess. My only question is seeing Tiana is the future queen of Maldonia, whats gonna happen to her restaurant? Also for someone who actually kinda opposed romance at first its kinda odd they get remarried after the spell is broken, considering Eudora or his parents didnt even meet them. Raya while unfortunately the movie itself felt kinda rushed and lacked story in some aspects, had to go years without her dad looking for the thing and was even betrayed by her friend, who she had to learn to forgive. Honestly Im surprised no one has even mentioned Raya being a potential LTGBQ+

I have to say that Belle is not kidnapped. She has full agency in every decision that was made in her stay at the castle. I think that people say that shes abused but thats not so. She sticks up for herself and asserts her self in every way possible. Is being locked in a castle ideal situation? no but she makes the best of it. And even in that Belle still had a choice; she couldve said no and went back home and lived her life. She decided to be a hero and selfless. One other thing that people miss, is that beast gave Belle an adventure. Their friendship challenged her just as much as a challenged him. When your put into difficult situations that is what often happens. I think that people need to really see the nuances in this movie. There are a lot I dont know if they just watch the movie Passively, But thats not the way to watch this film. :-)

Snow White - wanted love yes but she is only 14. But she was a servant but not her choice. She remained happy and optimistic no matter what happened from getting kicked out of her home and was almost killed.
Cinderella - Cinderella again a servant but she was young she saw that as a norm because that was how she was raised. She never knew any better. All she wanted was a night out not a man. And afterwards she went back to her normal life she did not cry that it ended but happy that it happened.
Aurora - was cursed as a baby, lied to, never got told about her royal heritage. She wanted love and life. She cried because her trust was broken. And yet she was willing to become Aurora and leave Briar Rose behind.

Cinderella was actually a feisty heroine for the time period despite being abused by her wicked stepmother.
Sure, she needed a man to escape her situation, but we must blame that on the society around her, not on Cinderella herself.
Ariel was longing for life on land even before she saw Eric, so it never was all about him.
Belle was never kidnapped or held hostage, and she could leave Beast whenever she wanted to.
Jasmine will become the queen of Agrabah one day and is hardly going to let Aladdin run the city without her input.
Pocahontas became an ambassador for her people in the sequel.
Tiana was actually able to run a restaurant, which would have been impressive for a black woman in the 1920s.

Walt Disney made his three original Disney Princesses and became movie classics and became an inspiration for many years ago. Also after that was over Walt Disney made animated animal movies and the hit Movie Mary Poppins with Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. Then Walt Disney died on Dec 15 1966, fans of Disney and the company honored him and let his legacy live on forever in the future. Until 1971 Walt Disney World was build in Orlando Florida and thanks to Alan Menkin, Howard Ashman, Stephen Schwartz, John Lasseter, Randy Newman Phil Collins, Matthew Wilder and Elton John and Tim Rice and Ron Clemons and John Musker and Lin Manuel Miranda who made new Disney movies and computer animated movies right now today.

Did you really just say that Tiana isn't good feminist rep because she can cook and clean? lol. she worked her butt off to overcome racism, misogyny, and poverty to open her own business. The idea that Elsa and Anna are better just because they're sisterly love saved them is wild. Also, Cinderella WAS an active participant in her freedom (worked to go to ball but the stepmother ruined it) and never said anything about wanting a prince before she met him. Tiana, Mulan, and Merida are the most feminist in my personal opinion.

I disagree when discussing Ariel the reason why Ariel wanted to be human was because of a Man it wasn't so much based on the general desire of being human. I don't agree with Ariel being that strong. She's a good character, but I wouldn't she was completely independent and strong. She caused so much damage, and still got what she wanted at the end of the movie. I don't think she changed or evolved in the same way Belle and Jasmine evolved throughout their respective stories

Basically, the movies were dumb, weak, Naive and vulnerable princesses wanted men compared to women who just were passionate in what they do and met a guy who they took an interest in. The later princesses werent male oriented originally and the unintelligent weak woman. Im not saying liking men is bad or men are. Im saying Walt purposely portrayed what they thought was feminine: servant, passive, weak, naive, unintelligent, and dependent to the 3 original princesses

The slagging off of any princess who doesnt act traditionally masculine is ridiculous! This is why girls like me grew up thinking that being girly or having traditionally feminine traits was negative! Femininity and the traits that come with it arent bad or negative. If you think the only way to empower women is by forcing them to turn away from femininity then youre missing the point.

Your comment about Mulan not focusing on romance is misleading. She didn't object to marriage or her role in society which is why there is no conflict. If there was no war, its possible in a couple of years when she was less awkward, her story would have been the same as any other girl around her. You make it seem as if she wasn't interested and happened to find love along the way.

I know Im not you but Id love to mention that Ralph Breaks The Internet reunites the voices of Disney Princesses except for Adriana Casselotti, Illene Woods and Mary Costa. Luckily Jodi Benson, Paige O Hara, Linda Larkin, Irene Bedard, Ming-Na Wen, Anika Noni Rose, Mandy Moore, Kelly Macdonald, Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell and Aulii Cravalho reprise their roles

Are Arabs of colour? Because that's what Jasmine is. and as far as I know, Arabs are not technically of colour. Also, as others have commented, Tiana didn't simply possess qualities of domesticity, she wanted to become a businesswoman through them! She aimed to have her own restaurant and run it! That's world apart from the previous domestic princesses.

What sucks is that Disney had rights to Smow Whites voice and still her great grandchildren are still getting that one percent everytime its shown or streamed
Plus that was only a first voice/ acting job.
Plus Smow White had an agreement with seven drawfs, she would take care of the household while they work to have a roof over head.

while i am not defending racism, these movies that have racist depictions were truly what was believed by the public at the time and not everyone knew wasnt accurate but they believed to be true. i mean its definitely not right but it is what was believed to be accurate. disney wasnt always as historically/racially accurate as they are now

Who else thinks Maleficent was the scariest and powerful villain. Plus I think Mrs. Treaman was a little more evil than the Evil Queen, both stepmom if you think about it.
The Evil Queen does have one deadly sins envy
That's what killed her a jealous of her kind and beautiful stepdaughter

Some people need to stop looking for a bad aspect of the movie and look at the overall good message teaching children to follow their dreams and not letting anyone standing in their way and nothing's wrong with finding true love along the way to share that dream with

The Princess and the Frog isn't my favorite Disney movie, but what I CAN appreciate about Tiana, is the fact that her parents taught her to work hard for what she wanted in life, rather than expecting everything to be handed to her on a silver platter.

Ya know, some criticized Mulan because she fullfilled her goals by disguising as a man. Its almost as if they forgot that the film is based on a Chinese ballad in which the disguise part was very important for the story!

Would Elsas powers be considered a disability? I am just curious. If not then I think there should definitely a Disney princess with a Disability.
