I LOVED that Vicki Lawrence was her grandma on the show. Mamas Family was one of my favourite shows, glad to see Mrs. Lawrence was still getting gigs well into her Twilight years. (She of course starred in The Carol Brunett Show of which Mamas Family was a spin-off)

Thank GOD they didnt pick that ending! That would have been absolutely horrifying! I hate it when shows do that! Its such lazy writing but seems like theyre trying to pass it as a well thought out plan they had all along when everyone knows they never do!

That alternate ending wasnt a dream sequence, it was a flashback showing Miley as a little girl when she was just dreaming about becoming a singer, showing that dreams can come true. Hence the 12 years ago.
