10. There is nothing wrong there; It is a beautiful tribute.
9. Humans have been wearing animal skins, fur, teeth, claws, and other stuff for as long as we've worn anything. This is no big deal.
8. The snow was crushed gypsum.
7. Buddy Ebsen's reaction to the aluminum powder in his make-up was not allergic. He had a congenital bronchial condition.
6. Judy Garland was not forced to do anything. She was a well-developed teenager playing a child, so her curves needed to be reduced or hidden, and it turned out to be a little of both.
5. Yes. Margaret Hamilton was burned, but she would not want anyone to let that ruin their childhood, mainly because it didn't ruin her enjoyment of playing the Wicked Witch of the West. She loved the role, and she loved the movie.
4. Yes, Victor Fleming slapped Judy. Once and only once. It was because they were running out of time to finish a scene, and Judy was having a giggle fit. He hated having to do it, and asked John Lee Mahin to break his nose. Judy overheard him and kissed his nose instead.
3. Judy did not take any pep pills while she was making the movie. She had plenty of natural pep, and only worked for four hours a day.
2. None of the Munchkins were out of control on the set; the Austrian core group of the Singer Midgets were show business professionals, and the American contingent were simply amazed to be in a movie. There have been many bigoted lies told about them and their behavior.
1. This is true, but it happened twenty-three years after the movie and had nothing to do with it. Robin Williams committed suicide, but that's no reason to feel horrible about _Mork & Mindy_ or any of the other things he made while he was alive.

Why didnt anyone ever tell us the terrible history of this movie until 2021? Instead they let us grow up with this movie before finally coming out and telling us that theres a horrible truth about it! You have no idea how horrible it is when we grow up loving a movie, but then after many years of loving it, we learn that were not allowed to like this movie anymore, because by loving the movie, we were approving of all of the horribly abusive acts the creators of the movie did to Judy Garland! WHY? WHY did they let us grow up with this movie and let us have great nostalgic memories of it if the movie did stuff THIS unforgivable? It just makes me so upset! This is the THIRD movie from my childhood where this happened! THREE movies that I grew up with and loved for many years, and to learn that were not allowed to like them anymore, that makes me feel like my life has no meaning anymore!

I'm thinking how hot that lion costume was. Asbestos no wonder Judy and whom ever else on set went a little odd. Other than that all this is nothing new these facts have been covered how many times. I say just enjoy the movie and remember actors even thought this is there trade of choice go threw hell to make movies but that's why they get they big pay checks.

It sickens me the way she was treated, I knew that filming had various issues and problems, but I didnt know the extent of abuse Judy went through from basically everyone on set, ironically minus the Wicked Witch. It sounds about right though, in that age thats just how they treated a lot of actresses in Hollywood.

i used to live next to someone who looked a lot like judy garland when she was younger. i was in her apartment and she had a ton of wizard of oz memorabilia so when i saw a picture that looked like judy garland i asked her about it and she said that was herself when she was younger.

I've always found it absolutely fascinating that one of the most impressive, classic, memorable, and beautiful films of all time was fraught with some of the most traumatic events for so many people. None of which were a hanging munchkin, because that didn't happen.

I'm shocked that they didn't mention the fact that Judy Garland won a Juvenile Academy Award for Best Juvenile Performer for The Wizard of Oz and Babes In Arms. She was the 4th person to receive the award, as well as only 1 of 12 in history to ever receive one.

since Judy Garland was body, shamed and marginalized by her superiors. Im pretty sure in that moment when she was singing somewhere over the rainbow. She was dreaming of quitting MGM and go find an acting career where she could be herself and be treated fairly

Buddy Epsen didnt have an Allergic reaction to the makeup. You see the silver makeup that was used was clown make up with aluminum dust, while the makeup was being applied, Buddy ingested some of the Aluminum Dust resulting in respiratory problems.

Watchmojo is sometimes so woke its just cringey like msmojo also but come on some of these videos are just trash but what about the hanging midget in the (original) not the remaster edition with a bird swapped in for the hanging person in the back

I don't know which shocked me more. How Judy was treated during all of this and all who were involved with the abuse and suffering she endured along with what it did to her or the suicide the actress who played Auntie Em had committed.
reply

And that mountain climbing scene, I once read that the Tin Man is actually holding on to not the tail, rather the Cowardly Lions legendarily well-endowed penis. As many Hollywood starlets of the era would attest.

judy kissed victor on the nose because she knew he was sorry and regretted slapping her, its called forgiveness, i really don't get why such positive emotions are so alien to you people
reply

You cannot ruin someone's childhood unless they are still a child. The past is unchangeable, no matter what happens in the present. Seriously, people, stop saying this. it's nonsense.
reply

Yes, it was a different world back then- we live and learn, but as they say: the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Most hide their immoral acts these days.

A costume made of real fur: looked down upon.
A costume made of plastic, synthetic fibers that wont degrade in 100s of years: that is a thing of beauty!

The fact Victor Fleming wanted everyone to hit him for what he did is sweet. And Judy kissing him showing it was alright. THAT is true comadere.
