So they are actually mostly clinically insane in the membrane or at least appear this way. Taking out a loan! Signing such a contract! Conjuring and dealing with the Devil may be an easier task than this show at the end of the day.
I GOT JOKES OK!
Being selected to be a contestant on this groundbreaking TV show, used to be and, should still be a considered honor that should be celebrated and acknowledged as such.
''But Naiy Eddie! ''
'What if. we. Rather, after years of slogging and working towards financial SECURITY and UTTER fierceness. and invading Fame! We imprison the finest of all the JOKERS in the land. FOR AN ENTIRE CALENDAR YEAR. to do our bidding and compete for either the converted crown or their already so-so Drag Career! ''
Am I the only one who can see the Devil in the Details
WHAT HAPPENED?
YOU should and could spoil your fellow Drag Queens, earning you a very comfy life!
FEED YOUR ARTISTS RU-PAUL! At the very least!
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT BEING TOSSED OUT THE WINDOW,
WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM?
ARE YOU, HUMAN? SIS!

I have worked my entire adult life in art and entertainment. None of this surprises me. I once was a production designer for a feature lenth film with zero pay (with the promise of exposure, credibility and great opportunities for your career; , and after the first three days of 22-hour workdays, most of which were done between the hours of 16: 00-06: 00, and I went into sleep deprivation psychosis and spiraled down from there. It took me years to crawl back into a place where I could work again. Creative people are extremely exploited, and their struggles are often overlooked because it can look cute and easy and light hearted on the outside. Well lemme tell ya: if it's easy to look at, it probably took years to master, and countless hours to make.

And I noticed in later seasons they started doing more physically demanding challenges like the cheerleader competition where Eureka hurt her knee, and the one where Yvie Oddly hurt her ankle. A union would have most likely nixed those challenges or put boundaries in place to make them safer. How sad for these talented performers. I read somewhere RuPaul is worth around $60 million. I know its not just his show and theres a whole studio behind it, but damn! They could shell out some $ for food.

All tv shows and movie sets are supposed to have craft services, they gave the contestants just junk food, they should have gotten 3 hot meals a day, a basket full of chips and sodas were given, I bet Rupaul's dressing room is full of shrimp, lobster and caviar, they are being held prison, they have contact to their family, I could care less about the media, can't have a cellphone, or other gadgets, not fair.
reply

I believe RPDR is now a union show.
Doesn't just effect contestants but has a knock on effect with the staff. William said on the Race chaser podcast that when they wanted more time to get ready they'd just all do their make up a little slower and demand more time but now contestants can't get away with that and they run on stricter schedules as they can't keep the crew working past certain hours

okay this might be a rlly dumb question but if the winning clips are pre filmed how did they film the tie between trinity and monet without it being obvious? i dont know if that makes sense but they were super shocked that it was a tie but they literally pre filmed one of the takes of it being a tie?
reply

The fact that they take all these precautions and sequester the queens and take away all their freedom and for what? The leaks happen every season anyway. I know this is old tea but the way the contestants are treated on this show is just appalling. Some of it is straight up abuse.
reply

I would love to take WOW to court over abusive contracts. Signing something doesnt make it legal especially when it is SO one sided it would be unjust therefore unenforcible on a legal level to expect one party to preform required duties specified under the contract.
reply

I had to quit watching after the brutal gaslighting of Adore and character assassination of Phi Phi on All Stars 2. It was depressing and ruined the whole show for me. Which sucks, because I really enjoyed it up until then.
reply

The iconic Not Today Satan was actually about something else. I think its for Bianca's live comedy performance challenge. But the producers used it for a different bit that regards Courtney having red paint on her face
reply

It's not a surprise for me. I am a strong follower of willam so I know all the shady and messed up things Ru and WOW does. It's a shame. Ru is a soulless corporate husk with no respect for other drag queens.
reply

I need to say that I wasnt a big fan of Monique Heart in her season but in all stars I really really started to like her and I am certain that the editing in her first season had a lot to do with it.
reply

I can't Believe that this is how they treat people, it's not Right. I know it's a competition but come on they are still Human Beings treat them better, I wouldn't go on This Show.
reply

With how awful the behind the scenes is, im surprised theres still many people left who want to participate in All Stars. No way in hell would i wanna go through that AGAIN
reply

I was always under the assumption that those interview bits are all shot at once AFTER filming the season is complete and they just have to talk in the present for continuity
reply

This is all terrible. Food and breaks are not demands from divas, they are rights all workers deserve and these queens put in the work. Ru should be ashamed of himself.
reply

Considering I work in law, this video has me concerned. I've always adored RuPaul but the clear and obvious exploitation going on is troubling and must stop.
reply

This is not okay. I'm not apart of the Trans community, so I can't speak on anyone's behalf. But. would this be happening to straight men on any show.
reply

Someone tell me how Courtney Act brought those wings and everything else in just 5 bags?
I'm doubting the validity of this.

reply

This is abuse period and they have no choice but to be imprisoned in their room its wrong Wrong shame on you rupaul shame on you
reply

That being trapped in a room with nothing but a TV and taped door and cover peep hole and closed curtains and all is hell already.
reply

If you all like this video - you'll love The Chop, which breaks down the edits on Drag Race (and really analyzes the confessions)
reply

So Ru is anti-worker and a dirty capitalist who is exploiting struggling queens for her one gain. What a piece of shit.
reply

I think it is really weird how they crown girls. Like why dont you just have a live finale and not a taping?
reply

The way they are treated is why I only watch via reactions or recaps. I find the mistreatment disgusting.
reply

I love the show but had no idea it was such a hellhole. My god, really changes the way I view the show.
reply

None of this is a surprise. Being on a reality competition show has risks. Food situation sucks tho.
reply

Ru is a terrible person. I wish she would disappear into Wyoming and let someone else take the crown.
reply

It's a competition and that's how it works! Take it or leave it! Plus they get paid per episode, sooo.
