Top 10 Times Teen Dramas Were Overly Dramatic I think Im one of the few who thinks that Rory wanting to drop out of Yale is one of the most honest and realistic moments on the show. The girl had been told her entire life who she should be and what she should want. Shed spent her whole life being called the great hope of her family, essentially the replacement Lorelei. I think its totally reasonable for her to question that. I think the reason why Rory let Mitchums criticism hit so hard is because she knew that he was right on some level, and it made her question all her choices. Rory wanting to take time off Yale was not the dramatic part of that storyline, it was Loreleis refusal to listen to her daughter and try to understand instead of taking it as a personal attack that was the problem. Lorelei is supposed to be portrayed as this supportive and understanding mother but really, if you re-watch the show, that only ever occurs when Rory is doing exactly what Lorelei wants her to do. Anytime Rory makes a mistake, Lorelei withdraws all support. And Rorys characters ending in the revival is NOT failure. I viewed it as Rory actually becoming the person she herself wanted to be. She hated doing the journalism thing, she liked editing the Gazette and living in the small town, writing her book. thats who Rory really is. I thought it was actually a genius way to end it. It really was Rory and Lorelei going full circle, subverting all her mothers expectations of who she thought she was. It was brilliant.\r\n

The rory yale dropout moment makes perfect sense tho. all her life she has been told that she is the best and the brightest of the bunch even when placed in a competitive private school. All those praises never really made her actually have to struggle and work hard for something. Yes she studied her butt off but still, it hardly ever seemed like she was told her writing is bad. Throughout the entire series we see her go into fits of non stop talking until she gets the praise or chances that she wants. Even her own mother gets upset and throws fits when people do not praise her extra super duper brilliant amazing daughter. So the one person, that actually mattered in the field that she was studying for, told her like it is, Rory threw a fit like she always has done. And you can see how unfit she is being a writer in the revival. If anything, Jess was the one that made it big in writing. Even published books

Agree with many on here who had said that Marissa wasn't being over dramatic but just letting it all out in dealing with a parent like Julie.
As for Dawson, I'm not at all surprise you would think that way considering the favouritism towards the oh so fabulous and amazing pacey who was the only one to deserve Joey
That Dawson should DARE to have any feelings regarding his great best friend and wonderful ex-girlfriend in feeling devastated and hurt. The absolute nerve of him! Of course when pacey feels hurt and pain then we ALL should feel only devastation for him!
And of course making fun of someone guy crying is the best of all, because when anyone cries, there should always be the awareness to make the face as pretty and attractive as possible!

I used to think Rory quitting Yale was way over the top too - and don't get me wrong, it's still OOC and frankly odd writing - but now that I myself have had the experience of being a sheltered, over stressed, over-achieving kid thrust into college and real life and being confronted with the idea that my plans might not turn out the way I've known them to be my whole life and considered the whole dropping out just for a semester and see how it goes from there? I get it.
I'd say the bigger over-reaction wasn't the dropping out, but maybe the moving out and not talking to her mom for 6 months

Basically anything Rachel did in Glee
Sending Sunshine to a crack house
Quitting NYADA because Carmen Tibidaux wouldn't give her special treatment
Fighting with Santana because she auditioned for the role of the understudy
Sleeping with Puck since Finn slept with Santana, while they were broken up
Her crush on Mr. Shue
Her bratty storming off everytime she doesn't get her way
Wait now I'm just naming reasons why I don't like Rachel

Its hilarious that even Riverdale knows how cringe worthy Archies speech about football is because in an early episode this season Jughead commented on it to Archie, by saying As long as you promise not to talk about the epic highs and lows of football ever again, I can talk to Tabitha about having Pops sponsor the team. Its great because the show is self aware enough to know when theyre being cringy.

To be fair Marissa's breakdown wasn't just about her boyfriend leaving or some other BS. She was actually dealing with shooting her boyfriend's brother who had previously attempted to rape her so I think her outbreak was pretty reasonable in that situation. And her mom wasn't exactly helping the situation.

So, there were twins in the Book series for Pretty Little Liars, but it was Alison, and her twin Courtney. Alison killed her twin after her twin tricked their parents into believe she was her twin. This was before Alison blamed her twin for almost killing her. The books are nuts.

OTHs first 4 seasons were amazing, with even better soundtracks. The time jump in S5 was rough and it started to jump the shark a bit but at least they used little known artist Adeles Hometown Glory in a perfect finale montage. Remember when that dog stole Dans transplant? Iconic.

Marissa had every right to react like that. Julie was never helpful and Ryan didn't go away for the summer, he moved to Chino with the girl he got pregnant, he wasn't supposed to come back. If you add to this all Marissa's suicidal tendencies that reaction in completely justified.

Hi Ms. mojo so I havent seen a lot of these shows. Actually, Ive barely seen any of them except for glee, so I just wanted to say that your placement of Rachel, sending sunshine to the crack house was perfect but the two goalie honorable mention should have been ranked higher.

Good choises kkk all the list is Very dramatic kkk Elena erasing Damon is a moment that i hate. Ps. Seeing this i realize that several show has the same problems that Riverdale has and dont get the same critics, for exemple i watched pretty Little Liars, its worst, believe me.

I never understand the hate for Rachel sending Sunshine to the crack house. That was the point, the show was over the top and absurd and Rachel was like that. I just laughed like a maniac when a I watched the scene the 1st time (still cracks me up)
reply

Listen, the reason why Marissa screamed wasn't just cuz Ryan left. She was forced to live with her Mom and Caleb and her Mom was emotionally abusive. So she just felt trapped and she was broken. So thus, the infamous scream.

I stopped watching Riverdale because I used to read the comics and I knew it would be quite different, but they just. they are just a joke. After season 1 it's just been pure trash does the cast know how much the show sucks?

Honestly Chucks father trying to kill him seemed More unlikely to me than falling of a building. Overall his father returned from the dead such a drama king and Not all who seemed to become before his first death.
reply

I always thought that iconic ugly cry was from when Dawsons dad died. I recently rewatched after like 15 years and was shocked to find out it was just over a standard Joey/Dawson moment. Pacey and Joey forever.

I think they could have handled Rory dropping out of Yale differently. It was clearly a mental health issue that lots of students have in university. I think if it was made today it would have been better.
reply

Pretty much all of Riverdale from Season Two forward is over the top and ridiculous, which is why I love it. I hated the whole Elena erasing Damon from her memories was seriously messed up!
reply

Elena erased her memories of Damon, burned down her house and turned off her humanity but when Caroline was trying to grieve her mother then how dare she? Seriously Elena be better.
reply

Rory quit Yale bc she was a spoiled brat who got everything she's ever wanted. No wonder she was so dramatic about one rejection. She was never taught how to handle it growing up
reply

how is the rachel one first? over all the other things on this list. i honestly took the crackhouse thing as a joke and didnt take it that seriously bc ya know. its glee
reply

Everything about Dawson's Creek was extremely dramatic. Like it was described on the show, it was a preposterous soapopera about a bunch of teenagers who talk too much
reply

over dramatic rachel from glee rory dropping out all the kidnapping one tree hill falling to a death gossip girl i've only watched rory's not the others but insane
reply

I actually don't think Dawson was over reacting to when he cries. Have your heartbroken then come back to me. And Pacey was awful for what he did to Dawson.
reply

I agree that riverdale can be really over dramatic but it's a good show. Minus archiekins.
The whole of glee and stranger things are also EXTREMELY over dramatic

reply

Yes, I do know teen shows are rather ridiculous most of the time but jebus, gotta feel for the kids today if Riverdale is what they look up to.
reply

How was one tree hill kidnappings dramatic? They were actually pretty realistic. They were terrible situations I wouldve probably shit myself
reply

Marissas scene is still one of the most emotional and best scenes ever. This is not an overreaction. This is pure emotions of a teenager.
reply

Okay to be fair Elena choosing to erase her memories of Damon was necessary cuz she's too heartbroken to function and she knows it
