What about a list of close calls for these characters? That is, characters who spent most of the show unseen, but finally shown near the end. Happy Days had a couple of those: Joanie's friend Jenny Piccolo and Clarance the cook. For years, we only heard about Jenny's antics, and about the weird things Clarence did in the kitchen (with Al often sticking his head in the back to yell at him.
However, when Ron Howard and Donny Most left the show, an actress (Cathy Silvers) was hired to play Jenny, and she became a full-on regular character. Clarence never became a regular, but he made a few brief appearances in the last season or two.

They did do a spin off of Columbo called Mrs. Columbo that was his wife as a detective of the Jessica Fletcher, non-detective, solving mysteries type. She was played by Kate Mulgrew. The studio was concerned because when they did the show the age difference meant she'd have been a minor in earlier episodes of his show.

I think a pic shouldve been added on this list is Kimmy Giblers parents in full House she talked about them in full house and fuller house. The parents also Ive been on the phone with the children or the Tanner family but weve never seen them theyve only been talked about.
